I don't know how I didn't discover this author until a few months ago, but I am so glad I did. I heard a lot about the first book in the series, Airborne, and I was very interested. After learning more at a book signing, I was all in with wanting to read Quinn's entire backlist. I haven't read it all yet, but I'm well on my way!

I really enjoyed Airborne and find the Dollhouse interesting and I love all the characters. This book gives readers a more in-depth look into the Dollhouse and what is happening with the Rosseti's, though that isn't entirely wrapped up in this one and will likely continue through future books.
Quinn's writing style is highly enjoyable and the worldbuilding and character development are top tier. I know some don't like the miscommunication trope, and there is some of that here, but I don't mind it, personally. I love found family series and this one definitely delivers on that.
I would recommend reading Airborne before reading Head Over Heels for the most enjoyment and best understanding. I have heard that the series is inspired in part by the Hazbin show, but I have never seen that and I didn't feel at all lost while reading. The romance is great, but it isn't the only plot line. There is plenty going on to keep the story moving and I never got bored. I don't usually pick up books over 250 pages because I anticipate growing bored with the characters and story. Two chonky books into this series and that hasn't happened!
The cover art for both is also fantastic. I plan to get this book in every available version because I prefer to read ebooks, but like to have the pretties for my shelf.
When I read Airborne and first got introduced to these characters, I knew I was going to be hooked. Ever since I finished Cherry's story, I have been eager to visit the Dollhouse once more, and even more excited to learn about the resident momma bear of the house, Luxe. Also known as Darby..
Darby intrigued me from the moment his character was mentioned in Airborne, and his character still continued to intrigued me in this book, his book. I have to say, he's every bit as fabulous as he portrays himself as, and I loved the juxtaposition between his Luxe personna and his 'real' self, Darby. I thought it was fascinating seeing those different sides of his character all while learning so much about him and his past.
All of the dolls at the Dollhouse has suffered one way or another, they all have a past that they don't love but what has made them part of who they are. And Darby's past is part of who he is but not the sum of him, and I loved how Mercer got him to realize that about himself gradually overtime. He's so much more than someone to please other people, and the moment when Darby came to that realization himself was really beautiful.
Now, I will say that the romance and characters were amazing as was the writing! I was hooked from the first page and am so sad this is over. I'm very excited for the next one! I want to discuss the evil powers at play that were featured within this book. Those darn angels came back and are causing trouble for these precious Dolls, and I hope they pay! Just know, that while this couple got a HEA, the plot left off on a cliffhanger regarding that pesky menace, and those evil angels.
All in all, this book is absolutely fantastic and is well worth the read!!
