Wow – Oleander was downright bold and severely impactful.
From the blurb:
Caspien Deveraux was poison.
It took me years to realise that he hadn’t been born like that. He’d been cultivated and nurtured by a careful hand and a bitter heart. When I first met him, he was a bud. One primed to bloom beautifully and deadly. One I should have torn out at the root.
I loathed him. I loved him. And until him, I hadn’t known just how completely those two things could exist at once.
Zakiyya's review:
My first read by this author and I have to say, she has the ability to weave a very daring story.
She’s excellent at writing heartbreak & pain and doesn’t shy away from tough subjects.
A page-turner in every sense cos you cannot help but want to be in the front row of all the drama that unfolds.
More than anything readers are going to be drawn to this out of sheer curiosity cos this will definitely get those tongues wagging.
Gosh, Jude and Caspian …🥺
My word, at first my heart broke for Jude but at many times I had to close the book and go, Dude, you had to see that coming…🤦🏻♀️ - his obsession with Caspian made me so mad at him at times.
There were also plenty of times where you want to reach into this story and shake these characters really hard or wish you could knock some sense into them.
It’s a long and angsty road but once you finish, you come to realise that Caspian had to live the life that he lived in order to fully accept the consequences of his bad decisions and to truly appreciate Jude’s love for him.
Character growth for Caspian was extremely well done. From how he was to who he became... 💙
The only reason this book didn’t get a full 5 stars was cos there were quite a few predictable moments that you could see coming a mile away.
Oleander is currently available as an e-book and paperback and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
