Ashes to Ashes (Hounded Book 2) by Quinn Cameron

The second and final book to the Hounded duet. Get ready with tissues as Indy and Loren fight to survive but are never quite assured of getting their happily ever after as they face an unstoppable danger. Love and sacrifice define Indy and Loren's long-lived romance.

From the Ashes to Ashes blurb:

Some creatures are born to burn; only a few can rise again.

Indy remembers everything now: the failed cross-country escape, the moment he lost Loren, and the demons that are hunting him. His past is less of a mystery, but his present grows more dangerous by the day.

Loren’s return is far from the solution to Indy’s myriad problems. The archdemon Nero still wants his tears and is willing to enlist every one of the newly made hellhounds to get them.

With his powers fading and the threat on his existence looming larger than ever, Indy is running out of options. Even with aid from a new group of allies, survival is far from guaranteed. In the end, no force in Heaven or on Earth can save Indy except, maybe, himself.

If only he knew how.

SNik's review:

Second in duet (Hounded), must be read in order. Paranormal. Established couple. Hurt/comfort. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Currently separated and unsure of how to manage a reunion, Loren is in the clutches of an archdemon looking for Indy while Loren refuses to give up Indy’s location. Indy is still struggling with his drug addiction and searching for a way to rescue Loren.

Quinn Cameron delivered this time with flashbacks to Indy and Loren’s pasts which lend even more heartache and depth to their decades long romance. There is a significant amount of building upon their relationship, and only towards the end of the book is there more action in order to conclude the resolution to how they can escape danger and survive together. The group of friends that support them are a nice addition, and there are plenty of tear-inducing moments as the reader is never assured that Indy and Loren can make it through together. Perhaps not a perfect relationship, but one built on dedication, sacrifice, and an abiding love that never dims. This was an entertaining duology to read.
