Raven: Part One (Forbidden Desires Book 8) by Piper Scott & Virginia Kelly; Narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo

This series is truly amazing - the narration is outstanding!

From the blurb:

Bertram Drake, the most mysterious Drake brother, leads a life shrouded in secrecy. Taken from his brothers at a young age and shaped into a weapon to be used by the dragon council, he has one sole purpose: obey the orders given to him, no matter what they might be.

Once a perfect jewel of the Pedigree, Sorin’s sparkle has been dulled. Taken from his cloister and sold regularly to the highest bidder, he has learned two vital truths.

The first: that dragons are monsters who will stop at nothing to get what they want. And the second, most terrible truth of all: that egg madness is a lie—omegas are not saved from a lifetime of pain even when they are separated from their eggs.

When Sorin’s newest buyer mysteriously dies, Sorin sees it as his chance to escape from the hellish life he’s been forced to lead. The only obstacle? A handsome agent of the council who has been tasked with ending his life.… and who has custody of his eggs.

Raven: Part One is a 100,000 word omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set prior to the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains action, adventure, heartbreak, laughter, and more than its fair share of steam. For maximum enjoyment, Raven: Part One is best listened to following the events of Clutch, Bond, Mate, Swallow, Magpie, Finch, and Peregrine.

Lesetiger's review:

We finally learn the story of Bertram, who has always been a bit of a mystery when he has appeared in the brothers' books, leaving me with a few questions.

Bertram was separated from his brothers at a young age to work for the Council.
Sorin ekes out a miserable existence as an Omega and he is passed from one dragon to the next. The last dragon abused him and when he tries to protect his eggs, something unexpected happens. Bertram is sent to investigate the case.

My heart broke into a thousand pieces when I read their story. At first Bertram and Sorin are rather hostile towards each other, but that slowly changes. The story captivated me right from the start because it is exciting, but there are also dramatic scenes and equally sweet and romantic moments. The little dragons were a highlight for me.

Whenever you think they are settling down, something happens that forces them to adapt quickly to the situation, which is not always easy. But Sorin also carries a secret with him that needs to be unraveled.
The story is told over many years, but is not yet finished with Raven part one, which is why I am already looking forward to Raven part two.

I was very entertained, the story is interesting and I definitely recommend it as an audiobook!
Once I started listening, I found it very difficult to pause the audiobook because I was so captivated by it. I really enjoyed the wonderful writing style.

Michael Ferraiuolo has delivered an outstanding performance. You shouldn't miss out on this listening experience. He captured both the emotions and the accents of the protagonists perfectly. Chapeau, that was a pleasure for my ears!
