Audio Review: Head in the Game by Rebecca Rathe; Narrated by Jake Bordeaux

Lesetiger says "I loved the story" about Head In The Game.

From the blurb:

Bryant Nicks is the head football coach for the Groveton College Jackals, determined to do anything to push his team toward a championship season. When scouting out new players, Nicks comes across a rookie running back that impresses him both on and off the field. His attraction to his student runs deep, but Nicks knows better. Instead, he finds himself pushing the young player to the ends of his abilities, curious how much it will take to break him.

All playboy Jack Perry has ever been good at is playing football. So when he gets an opportunity to play at a top school with a full scholarship, he jumps on it. But it's more than just the opportunity that reels him in. The heat and intensity he feels when he's around his new coach is visceral. He'll do anything to make his coach proud.

Head In The Game is part of the collaborative Groveton College shared world project, but you do not have to read any of the other books in the shared world series to enjoy this book. It is a standalone with an HEA.

Lesetiger's review:

Head In The Game is my first book by Rebecca Rathe and definitely not my last book by the author. The story is told alternately from Bryant's and Jack's point of view.

Bryant Nick is the head football coach for the Groveton College. Jack Perry is a brilliant football player who accepts the opportunity of a full scholarship. The coach tries to get the best out of his players, but Jack in particular has taken a liking to him and pushes him to his limits. Jack is ready to test those limits.
I've read a lot of sports romance stories before. Here I was quickly drawn into the story and then I was right in the middle of it. Always on tenterhooks, maybe something important is about to happen. The more I listened to the audiobook, the more the story captivated me and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.

The chemistry between the coach and his player is there right from the start and was off the charts. The boundaries become increasingly blurred and I was very excited and also felt very sorry for the two of them. The two of them are really hot together, but what happens in the final third was an emotional rollercoaster ride. Holy moly, my nerves.

Jake Bordeaux did a phenomenal job narrating this book! I think he found the perfect voices for Jack and Bryant and he portrayed the emotions very well and brought their story to life in a fantastic way. I hadn't heard Jack Bordeaux before, but I loved his performance.
The audiobook was entertaining and very emotional!
