Luck of the Devil (The Reckless Damned #4) by Lark Taylor

Luck of the Devil brings us Dimitri and Dagon's tale of heartbreak. We all knew there was a story there and we get it, along with exactly why Lucky is the key to this triads HEA.

From the blurb:

One demon. One angel. A relationship that’s failed so many times. Could it really be just one human they’ve been missing?

Dagon

For centuries, Dimitri and I have tried to make it work. Each time we’ve been torn apart by our dominant natures, neither of us willing to back down. A hundred years ago, I thought he’d betrayed me in the worst possible way. In a fit of anger, we made a deal that led to my downfall.

Now Dimitri is back in my life, reshaping our history with the truth. But love still isn’t enough to make it work, not when being together tears us apart.

When he tells me he’s met our human mate, I can’t help but hope that Lucky will be the key to loving Dimitri the way I’ve always wanted.

But with Hell knocking at our door and an uprising threatening us all, can we persuade Lucky to give us a chance before it’s too late?

Dimitri

I haven’t given up on Dagon for one hundred years, and I won’t now.

When Lucky crosses my path, I finally understand why Dagon and I have never quite worked. Fate never intended us to be a couple…we were destined to be a triad. Lucky is the piece we need to complete us.

Winning Lucky over won’t be easy. Someone is hurting him, making him put up walls that are nearly impossible for us to cross.

But chasing Dagon has taught me that I’m a stubborn angel. I won’t give up on either of my mates.

Lucky

What an ironic nickname. Never in my life has anything lucky ever happened to me.

But everything changes when I meet Dagon and Dimitri. Two super-hot guys who aren’t put off by my inexperience? All my dreams are coming true.

Not for long though. Even with my boss and his family looking out for me, I know it’s only a matter of time before my past catches up to me.

So, for now, I’m going to soak up every drop of happiness Dimitri and Dagon have to offer.

Drink it up and pray they forgive me when I do what I always do.

Run…and don’t look back.

Luck of the Devil is an action-filled, fated-mates MMM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliff-hanger. It is the final instalment in The Reckless Damned series, which is best enjoyed in order due to the overarching plot. Each book focuses on a different couple or triad and has an HEA.

Like most fans of The Reckless Damned series, Dagon and Dimitri's book was one I was looking forward to ever since we were given that first hint that there was history between them. I knew they loved each other. That was never in question for me, especially since every time Dagon got hurt Dimitri inevitably came running, or well flying I guess. What I didn't know was why the hell these two weren't together. I mean it had to be something major if it was keeping them apart despite how much they loved one another. And as it turns out, there were a few reasons, that once added together led them to where they are when the book begins.

We left off in book 3 with Dimitri having met Lucky. Not only was this a shock to Dimitri who knew Dagon to be his mate, but it also filled him with hope. Hope that Lucky was the missing piece of the puzzle Dagon and Dimitri needed to complete them. Because not only could he tell the human Lucky was his mate, but that Lucky was fated to be Dagon's as well. A triad. Finally they had a reason their bonding never took. It was because they were missing Lucky.

As alpha males Dagon and Dimitri butt heads often. They longed to be needed, to protect those they loved. The problem is neither man wanted the others protection and it led to many an argument between the two. Lucky joining their relationship provided them an outlet for this need. He was vulnerable and human. Not to mention Lucky ate that shit up when both his mates doted on him. He'd had a hard life and no one deserved the devotion of two men more than him. Honestly all three of them hadn't had it easy so I was ecstatic they were finally finding some happiness for once. And when the three of them got down and dirty? Whoa nelly! 🔥🔥 DP anyone?

I must say I am looking forward to the future spin offs of this series and crossing my fingers for a few. I think Ferry's is next, but a few other couples are teased and I need them all!

Angel's Review:

I was really looking forward to knowing about Dagon's and Dimitri's history with each other, specifically what caused these two; who are mates, to be so hateful towards each other. And well... Now I know, and you'll know too once you get this book! I.. was blown away by this book, I don't think I've been as invested in a whole bunch of characters as I have with the characters that Lark has created.

I knew this book would be gut-wrenching, yes I knew that there was a happily ever after by the end of the story, but I also know how Lark writes. She can't just give us readers a happy ever after without causing some turmoil and anguish first, for us, and her characters. The level of background detail always blows me away with this series, I haven't seen Hell, or angels, demons, vampires, mages, etc. But with Lark's descriptive writing I could picture everything and everyone so clearly.

When I finished the book that came before this one I was really excited for this book to come out, and I'm so happy I was able to read this truly fantastic book. And while I am sad to see this series end, what a way for it to go!

It wasn't just the background and character details/descriptions that made this book spectacular, it was the plot too, and how there were SO MANY characters throughout this book and every single one had a reason to be there! Sometimes authors use characters as throwaways, just someone to add just because they want to. But that did not happen here. This book was executed so well, and done so beautifully. I adored watching Lucky embrace all of the people who wanted to care for him, and how he slowly accepted the love and care from the people who surrounded him. And I hate Grant! I'm just saying that because I need to let you know how much I despised his character, but he got what he deserved.

After these three men talked things out and finally got together officially, I was waiting for something to happen. Especially because Lark had Apologized to her readers!! I knew something was going to happen, and when I got to chapter 30... I knew I was right to be on edge. And oh my gosh... Lark!!! I need to have some words with you, you made me worry! And fear the lives of these precious characters!! Why would you do such a thing to us?!?  I know those moments were necessary but.. really?

Within those chapters and those pivotal moments we got introduced to more characters! Those include... Nathaniel,Theo, Ferry, Ezekiel, Micah. Since they were introduced I really hope at some point they get their own stories, cause I for one, would love to read about them.

The birthday scene to close out the book was such a delight to read about! It was the moment where everyone could be themselves and enjoy being with one another, a room full of love, joy, support, and care.

I highly recommend you go read not just this book, but the whole series. I promise, you won't regret it, especially if you love demons finding their mates.
