Enhanced World Security is back with All of Me. We have an age gap high action story this round. Can Drake accept his feelings for a special man 30 years his junior?
From the All of Me blurb:
Shae
I was broken.
Someone had broken me.
Or broken my heart.
The mark on my face should mean I was powerful. I could move faster than the eye could track. But thanks to being held against my will and viciously experimented on the resulting scarring to my heart meant I would be lucky to ever run again, even at normal speeds.
No wonder Ringo didn’t want me.
Ringo
As a Marine and specialist bodyguard, feeling helpless wasn’t something I was used to, but the day I’d carried Shae out of that laboratory, his body burned, barely breathing, had just about broken me.
Then one innocent kiss finished me off, and I ran.
I was too old, too jaded, and the last thing Shae needed.
Leaving Shae broke my heart, but coming back might just rip it in two.
Molly Otto's review:
We jump back into the aftermath of ONE STEP SIDEWAYS with Shae now free of testing and trying to move past Drake. Drake, after skipping town, is brought back in town to protect Shae once again. You get the hesitation of Drake, how could you not, the age gap is significant. However, you feel their connection and understand why Shae needs someone like Drake to hold him together. This story is full of so many twists and turns. You honestly don't know which way is up and down, and that's what makes it amazing. With all that is happening, it still works and makes sense. There isn't any extra hoopla. It all just ties together in the end. These two don't have an easy go, but wow, do they work well together? Mix in seeing their beautiful family continue to grow and feel my heart with joy. I'm hoping to see more from this universe.
SNik's review:
Second in series (Enhanced World Security), best if read in order due to shared side characters. Paranormal. Age gap. Found family. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Shae is an enhanced that is struggling with his health and living circumstances when Drake reappears in his life. Having run from the mutual attraction between him and Shae, Drake feels like their 30 year age gap is not fair to Shae, but while trying to figure out if they can have a relationship they are in danger but they don’t know from whom.
This story had plenty of action and unknowns as Drake and Shae are surrounded by problematic family and relationships, and they struggle to agree on a future relationship and have a few stumbles along the way. I liked how Drake wanted to be there for Shae, and his easy acceptance of Shae’s changing family circumstances given his hesitation over their age difference. I would have appreciated more one on one time with Drake and Shae, but overall I really enjoyed this story and the found family.
