Excerpt:
"Sure." I took the pen from him, wrote To Andy Thanks for being a devoted fan Dallas Bernhardt #51 and handed back his pen.
Andy gave me a bright smile. “Thank you very much, you’ve made my day! Enjoy your meal, both of you.”
After he left, Morgan said, “That’s one of the things I like about you. You’re so nice to your fans.”
I shrugged. “Where would I be without them?”
“True.” He pointed at my plate. “Do you always eat healthy food?”
“During hockey season, yes.”
“I’d miss my burgers and fries.”
When he went to pick another song on the jukebox, I stole some of his fries.
He came back and looked at me suspiciously before he started laughing.
“What?” I thought I’d hidden the evidence as I swallowed the last bite.
“I know you’ve swiped some of my fries, you’ve got ketchup on your face.”
“I do? Where?”
Morgan picked up a napkin and leaned in as he wiped a spot next to my mouth. Up close, I could see the exact shade of green his eyes were and count the freckles on his nose. I wanted to kiss them. His eyes widened like he could read my mind.
