A spell can't really make you forget everything and act in love with another person can it? But maybe love was the only thing that was real for a cursed prince and the apprentice mage that may have cursed him or maybe tried to save him.
From the blurb:
What would you do if you woke up one day and discovered your entire life was a lie?
Madly in love, Benjin and Haldric share a perfectly ordinary life together in their remote cabin far removed from any troubles. At least, that’s what they believe right up until the moment an army of royal guards arrives on their doorstep.
Whisking Haldric away, the guards claim this idyllic life is nothing but an illusion—the effect of some dark spell. Haldric is actually the prince, heir to the kingdom’s throne…and Benjin is the lowborn mage’s apprentice who cursed him.
With everything they thought they knew thrown into question, Benjin and Haldric must dive into their shared pasts in order to uncover the truth. But even as they relive the chain of events that brought them to this point, one looming question remains:
Is their love real enough to survive whatever the future holds?
The Prince’s Curse is a slow burn, low heat M/M fantasy romance featuring enemies-to-lovers, forbidden love, and a hard-won HEA. Every book in Hearts of Allaria is standalone and can be read in any order.
SNik's review:
Second in series (Hearts of Allaria), but can be read as a standalone. Paranormal fantasy. Adversarial to friendly to lovers. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Benjin and Haldric are living their ordinary lives as a married couple when they are forced from their home, Haldric being called a prince and Benjin a traitorous, kidnapping mage. Told they were cursed to forget they enter a ritual to return their memories and rediscover the truth of their relationship. The story unfolds how Benjin and Haldric meet and are at odds with each other but slowly grow feelings that seem impossible to keep as Haldric is embroiled in the political intrigue of the kingdom along with an arranged marriage hanging over his head.
I enjoyed that Benjin never wavered in his feelings for Haldric and there was plenty of action and magic to keep me entertained. For the love that they kept even when forgetting their memories and the compelling writing I gave this an extra bump in my rating. Looking forward to more of this series.
