Sticky For You (The Rhubarb Effect) by JP Sayle & Sue Brown

Sticky for You is the first in the Rhubarb Effect series. A short romance with fated mates, shifters and lots of Rhubarb. And custard jokes.

From the blurb:

A persistent omega, a reluctant alpha, and an unforgettable wooing. Has fate made a mistake, or can two opposite mates get their act together before the ‘wilt’?

Moving into Valentine Growville seems like the answer to Maximus, an alpha lion of his weird pride, despite there being a strange obsession with rhubarb. A knock on his front door changes Maximus’ life when he meets his fated mate, Tim. Nothing about the situation is what Maximus expects, and he is reluctant to take the next step. A lion and a rhubarb, could things get any wackier?

Tim is persistent and is determined to get his alpha. The problem is, he has an unusual way of showing his desire. As he drives the pride and the town crazy in the process, Tim woos his lion.

However, it appears the new pride have brought danger to the town. Will this throw a rhubarb into the works?

Sticky for You — book one of seven The Rhubarb Effect, where you'll forever imagine a serenading gay rhubarb.

Rogue's review:

- fated mates
- shifters
- omegaverse

I am still not quite sure what it is I read 😂 The two MCs in this are both shifters, one an alpha Lion shifter and the other a rhubarb. Yes, an actual stick of rhubarb 😂, as in he shifts to a rhubarb and sleeps in the ground at night. The whole town I think are rhubarb shifters, and it's just such a novel concept. It shouldn't work, but it really does. Tim meets Maximus and straight away sets out to woo his fated mate, mostly by annoying him into submission. Submit he does, and this is hot, fun, and ridiculous.

Maximus and the rest of his pack will all get their fated mates, I think and while I enjoyed this, mostly for the sake of curiosity, omegaverse isn't for me but I highly enjoyed this, as it was just so joyful.

Heather's Review:

JP Sayle makes me break all my rules...  I don't review fated mates, Mpreg, shifters or Omegaverse, but  I couldn't resist her latest release because she completely turns them on their heads and makes them do back handsprings... and no, the rhubarb does not perform gymnastics... but maybe in a future installment of the weird and wacky world of shifters that comes from the depths... this time she has an accomplice on her journey to completely bend your mind...

From the potato shifter, we've moved to rhubarb and this book just makes you scratch your head in a good way.  I can't put into words why I'm drawn to this book, but it's just so off the wall and silly it draws you in and makes you smile.

I love that the pack is made up of different animals and that we'll see what happens to the wild band of creatures in future books!  If you're looking to completely suspend reality and laugh, you'll want to pick up this book.
