From the Edge (Always Yours Book 1) by N. Slater

It's a story about the true face of how Desperation looks like, beyond the limit of endurance and the taste of pain, when Survival is all you have left. This is a dark omegaverse with heavy hurt-comfort-healing vibes in a fictional world, where the lives of omegas aren't usually pretty fairy tales.

From the From the Edge blurb:

I’m not meant for a happy ending.

I wasn’t even supposed to be an Omega but two years into college, I presented and my parents all but sold me to an abusive Alpha for a price tag that would set them up for life.
However, my heart is still with my lover from sophomore year, my heart and soul—Blake.
He was there for me when I was just a Beta, when I presented, and the terrifying days afterward. He’s been there ever since, dragging his Alphas to the diner I work at, and sneaking texts whenever he can.
I’m in love with someone I can’t have.
Someone who doesn’t have what I need.
Because Blake isn’t just mated.
He’s also an Omega.
And when everything starts to fall apart, Blake is there to pick up the pieces, introducing me to a pack that I never thought I’d have for myself.
Luther. Grayson. Maceo. Blake.
Society says this isn’t going to work. That a pack can’t work with two Omegas.
Blake says fuck the system, that I’ve always been his.
I want to believe him.
Because they’re the only ones that can pull me from the edge.

From the Edge is the first installment in the Always Yours series. It is an 18+ MMMMM fast-burn Mpreg Omegaverse with dark themes and ends on a cliffhanger. TW/CW in the Author’s Note.

GaleM's review:

Luka and Blake are more than best friends. From the moment they have met, they share a soul deep connection that nothing can break, even when the twists and turns of life lead them down different paths of shattered dreams and glum reality. For Luka, who never thought, he will present as Omega and Blake, who already is one, this is a catastrophe with huge proportions. Most of the abuse Luca went through after he is bought by his alpha is off page but the every day struggles and the suffering are described in a vivid way that draws the reader in the gruesome reality of his life.

This is a very emotionally heavy story, gripping and heart touching. As per usual for this author, the plot development is seamlessly tied to the level of spice and the two unfold perfectly. But the most valuable is, that the story provokes the reader to reflect on the meaningful life priorities and how much love is really worth. Is a moment with the people you truly love, worth sacrificing everything you are and everything you have? How far will you go to fight for them?

As a reader, I was absolutely enthralled by the strength of this friendship, the steel core of this soulbond that were tested beyond any sane limits and they survived.

So many questions still wait answer and there is a mean cliffhanger, but it was totally worth the time read. I can't wait to see the sequel.
