Conflicted is the first book in the new Hopeless Blessed series, which is a spin-off of the Reckless Damned. It features a demon/angel fated pairing who may start off as enemies, but soon enough everyone falls victim to fate. Micah and Nox are no different.
From the blurb:
Heaven has many rules for angels to follow, but one comes above all others.
Angels and demons cannot fall in love.
Micah
I’ve been alive for millennia and have yet to meet my fated mate. It’s not something I’ve ever cared about; my heart already belongs to another. Someone I can’t have. Someone who doesn’t want me.
Now I know we’ll never be together. Unlike me, he’s found his fated mates. Two of them.
That’s fine. As leader of the Seraphim, Heaven’s most elite unit of angels, I don’t have time for love.
Apparently fate has other ideas.
Meeting my mate on a battlefield outside Hell is surprising, to say the least. When you add in his uncanny resemblance to the man who broke my heart, it’s safe to say I’m far from pleased.
The fact that he’s a demon, my natural born enemy, is just icing on the cake of this is never going to happen. It’s a good thing I haven’t been banking on meeting my mate and living happily ever after, because there’s no way it’s happening with Nox.
It’s not like Nox wants me either. He hates me with a ferocity I’ve come to expect from his kind. The two of us never being together is the only thing we can agree on.
Still, there’s a pull between us that neither of us can ignore, no matter how much I wish we could. What starts out as hate sex, a way to try and burn off the intensity between us, quickly blossoms into something more. Something dangerous.
Something forbidden.
Conflicted is an exciting enemies to lovers, angel x demon, MM PNR romance. The first in the Hopeless Blessed series, each book will follow a different couple. All can be read as standalone titles.
Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:
"ʜᴇ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴀɪɴᴛʟɪᴇꜱᴛ ᴏꜰ ꜱᴀɪɴᴛꜱ. ꜰᴜᴄᴋ ɪꜰ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴍᴇ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴅɪʀᴛʏ ʜɪᴍ ᴜᴘ ᴀ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ."
Damn, I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance. All that passion and fire. The traded barbs and heightened emotions, which eventually boils over into some serious spicy moments. Nox and Micah did not disappoint on that front.
I really enjoyed getting to know both our MCs. Micah was not who I expected him to be based off past appearances. He hid so much going on behind his mask of indifference. Carried so much weight on his shoulders. It was no surprise that all he ever wanted was for once in his life to be taken care of in return.
"ɪɴ ᴀɴʏ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ, ʏᴏᴜ'ᴅ ʙᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴᴇ ɪ'ᴅ ᴄʜᴏᴏꜱᴇ. ᴇᴠᴇʀʏ ꜰᴜᴄᴋɪɴɢ ᴛɪᴍᴇ."
It took Nox a bit to figure that out about his destined mate. I have to hand it to him though, once he did, Nox was the one who stepped up and put them on the path they should have been on from the start. Fate didn't make a mistake when pairing these two. They were remarkably suited to one another. I loved how Micah was one of the most powerful beings in existence, yet he fell to a puddle in his mate's capable hands.
Unfortunately, relationship was only half the battle for our MCs. Dimitri might have gotten away with disobeying Heaven's laws and taking a demon mate, but Micah's mate didn't have a family who would start a war with Heaven to protect him. Even after all the events that played out in this book, I am positive we haven't seen the last of Heaven's wrath. I'm also pretty positive that we are going to be seeing a few more demon/angel pairings in the future, and I can't wait to see if my guesses are right!
Angel's review:
I along with others have been eagerly anticipating this series ever since the Seraphim was first mentioned. I knew Micah's story wasn't going to be an easy one based off of his history. He has to reconcile his feelings for his former second in command, while also protecting and leading his team. And Nox throws a wrench into his controlled life.
Nox has spent most of his life underground in Hell, he's only ever been to the surface when he's been ordered to. Now that he's free he wants to make the most of it, but an angel being his fated mate wasn't what he expected his freedom to come with.
These two are like oil and water together, they spark whenever they are near one another. Both of these men fight the pull at every step, they constantly deny what they are feeling, and are determined to hate each other indefinitely... But fate has other plans for these men. This story was fantastic! It was full of intense action scenes, excellent dialogue, and wonderful characters. I'm so glad that Lark made the Seraphim a family who bickered and bantered with each other similar to how the demons did. It helps give that sense of found family and was able to provide witty remarks, along with adding a humorous addition to the story.
I loved how these men didn't get together right away, even when they accepted that they are fated to be together, they took their time getting to know one another before they took any steps forward. I found their relationship to have developed in such a nice way, the story just flowed so smoothly. I was caught up in this story from the very beginning to the end. I absolutely loved it!!
I'm very curious about all of the side characters, but specifically; Quill, Noah, Ez, and Jeremiah. I'm very excited to see who's story we're getting next, and what battles are ahead for these angels and demons.
