Soren, Vampire's Mate #2 - Grae Bryan

A beautiful monster is still a monster, until you find yourself falling in love with him. Small town doctor Gabe never expected to need Soren's cuddles, but powerful vampire Soren is willing to give Gabe anything he needs as long as he can eventually call him mate.

From the blurb:

Gabe Kingman has never been great with his emotions. His disastrous personal life is evidence enough of that. Returning to be a doctor in his small Colorado hometown was supposed to bring him closer to his family, not push them even further away. He’s been slowly working to repair the mistakes he’s made, but his efforts aren’t made any easier by the new existence of vampires in his world. Especially one pesky, annoyingly beautiful vampire in particular.

Soren Iversen never meant to stay in Hyde Park this long. He hasn’t kept himself alive for centuries by letting himself be a sitting duck. But instead of moving on months ago, he’s been kicking his heels in the most boring town in the world, hoping for one stubborn, annoyingly compelling human to pay him even a bit of attention.

When circumstances force the two of them together, Soren’s obsession and Gabe’s unwilling attraction are brought to a head. But Soren has been running for a reason, and the skeletons in his closet threaten to tear the couple apart before they can even begin.

SOREN IS A HEATED, FATED-MATES MM PARANORMAL ROMANCE WITH A HEA AND NO CLIFFHANGER. IT CONTAINS A STUBBORN, EMOTIONALLY-REPRESSED ICU DOCTOR, AND A BRATTY, SLIGHTLY UNHINGED VAMPIRE NOT AFRAID TO STALK A MAN TO GET WHAT HE WANTS. IT ALSO CONTAINS STEAMY SCENES BETWEEN TWO MEN, AND THE MODERATE VIOLENCE (AND MENTIONS OF BLOOD) THAT ONE MIGHT EXPECT FROM A VAMPIRE ROMANCE. THIS BOOK CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE, BUT THE SERIES IS BEST ENJOYED IN ORDER.

SNik's Review:

Second in series (Vampire’s Mate), can be read as a standalone but best if read in order. Fated mate. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV.

Small town doctor Gabe struggles with things out of his control, so of course when he discovers vampires are real it throws his whole world view into a spin.

Soren has been watching over Gabe for a long time, and believes they may be mates, but Gabe thinks Soren is a monster so Soren keeps his distance even though Gabe’s brother is a newly turned vampire and mate to Soren’s vampire bestie.

When Gabe and Soren have the chance to spend time together, Soren is intent on seducing the human, and they quickly become close, sharing their pasts and some steamy interactions. Gabe realizes Soren is not so much of a monster as Soren soothes Gabe’s insecurities and anxiety while Gabe allows Soren to be strong and fierce without question.

I enjoyed all their interactions with each other, whether talking, cuddling, or sexy biting, neither man tries to change the other and they each accept each other with no hesitation (after Gabe gets over the fact that vampires are people too).

This series has delivered both sweet and possessive vampires that aren’t pushy and find just the right mate to get their HEA, Soren was a really fun read.
