Nine Lives by Helen Juliet

Nine Lives
gives a purrfect (so sorry!) dose of kitten sweetness.

From the blurb:

CHARLIE

I’m in trouble with a capital T. Thanks to my no-good stepfather, I suddenly find myself penniless, homeless, and fresh out of luck.

With no other options, I decide to sell the only thing I have left. Me. For the very first time. Maybe it’ll be okay and the guy will be nice and pay me proper cash.

Oh, who am I kidding? I’ve used up all my lifelines and all I can do now is throw myself at the mercy of Mr Moneybags.

MILLER

When my cold-hearted father passes, my older brothers get the multi-billion family businesses in the inheritance. I get landed with Dad’s secret club and all its problems.

The last thing I need is some little kitten coming to me, asking me for help. But he’s so sweet and beautiful, I find myself bending over backwards to fix his problems and save his innocence. Maybe even awaken something new in him.

But the more I see of him, the more I want to be the one to cherish him and protect him from the world.

If only he’d let me before it’s too late…

Nine Lives is a super steamy, standalone MM gay romance novel featuring first times, a very good baby kitten who gets very naughty for his Daddy in the bedroom, lots of cream, totally rubbish fathers who cause terror even from beyond the grave, an actual cat with matchmaking on her mind, and a guaranteed HEA with absolutely no cliffhanger.

Jacquie's Review:

Puns aside, I like kitten play, it's super cute and I love cats. So when I heard that Helen Juliet was doing a kitten play book? Well I was straight there for an arc. No question, didn't even read the blurb. I knew I was in for a good time. And it delivered.

Charlie is super cute. Young, inexperienced, grieving his mum and down on his luck. Fate puts him in Miller's path and gives him someone that really cares for him.

Miller was just lovely. The right mix of domineering and doting daddy. He gently fixed things for Charlie and put him on the right path.

Of course there's drama but it's quickly (not too quickly) sorted and necessary to get rid of old fears.

The kink was mild I'd say, it didn't overpower the plot and the steam counterbalanced the sweetness nicely.

Heather's Review:

I'm a huge fan of everything Helen Juliet writes and add in Kitten Play and you have an amazing read that I devoured as soon as it hit my kindle...

In the vein of her other fairy tale books, it loosely follows the Puss In Boots story line and gives us an adorable kitten and his daddy story with just enough angst and a ton of steam... and while both Kitten play and a daddy dom dynamic are kink, it's on the lighter side and is more nurturing and gentle than strict.

The characters are well balanced and I love when Charlie the kitten bares his claws...
