We are back to the Cauldrons and Kisses collaboration with Prince, Charmed. As with previous installments you have the right balance of light angst with a powerful bond. Can two childhood best friends reunite despite their past? Or will they be kept apart?
From the blurb:
Malachi is a prince and next in line for the throne, but as his coronation gets closer, strange things keep happening to him.
Florian grew up in the palace alongside the prince. The two were always together until it was discovered that Florian had magic.
The young witch was torn away from his friend and cast out from the only home he’d known. Despite the turn his life had taken, he has worked hard to build a reputation for helping people.
When Malachi realizes his problems are magical, he seeks out his childhood friend. As Florian works to undo the charms controlling the prince, that bond they once had comes back even stronger than before.
Prince, Charmed is a low angst MM friends to lovers romance. Cauldrons & Kisses is a multi-author series of MM magical standalone stories. Each low angst read will feature a witch finding love.
Molly Otto's review:
What I have been enjoying so much of the Cauldrons and Kisses collaboration is that each story has that right balance of fluff with some angst to draw you along. Florian & Malachi grew up together knowing Malachi would one day be ruler of their land, but that didn't stop them from being the best of friends. When Florian came into his true self, he was sent away with no contact from the royals til many years later. Malachi is in need of help visits the boy who was everything to him to find he is still that boy just less trusting. The two instantly bond once again, and their bond is beautiful. You can feel their love immediately and was happy to see when the truth came out they took it as serious as necessary to come across as believable. Felt this story tied in beautifully with previous installments of witches finding their mates even if some things prevent it.
Rogue's Review:
- childhood friends
- second chance
- magic
This is a standalone story in the Cauldrons and Kisses multi-author series. This is the perfect short (ish) story and it was just what I needed. Malachi and Florian were childhood friends, brought up together until Florian was sent away, and has spent the last 20 years on his own, not knowing what really happened. He's also a witch, and that has a lot of bearing on the story.
I liked both Mal and Florian very much, Mal has big dreams of being a different sort of king but needs Florian's help to overcome a curse. These two just absolutely belong together, and fit so perfectly even if it is all so fast between them, it's instant but that works for these two and I enjoyed the story very much. It's an interesting world building too with a mesh of technology and magic. I loved this.
This book is short, sweet, cute, and quirky!
Mal is currently the prince but soon he will become king, but there are suspicious things that keep happening to him. He's sure someone has cursed him, what better place to go to than the rumored witch in the woods.
Florian is a witch who lives in a cottage near the woods, he tries to heal people to the best of his abilities. When someone from his past turns up on his doorstep he doesn't know what to do. Can Florian and Mal work through the distance that is between them? And can Florian figure out what is wrong with Mal before his coronation?
I adored these to characters, they are just so precious. The flow of this story was so smooth, and the characters were fantastic. What appeared as annoying curses was something else entirely, but with Florian's help Mal is able to break free of what is holding him back. For those that are wondering this book does have a insta-love component to it, however, considering these two have a past together, that's to be expected. I just wish there was more scenes where these two were getting to learn more about each other now that they are adults.
Overall I thought this was a sweet read full of magical shenanigans. I honestly think this could be considered YA for those that are looking for YA MM romance stories. There is a steamy scene or two, but the main focus of the story if Florian and Mal reuniting with one another.
Prince, Charmed is currently available as an e-book and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
