Forbidden Inferno (A Twisted Oak Valley MM Romance) by D.D. McDaniel

Step brothers? Check. Pining? Check. Sweetness? Check.

From the blurb:

ELIO
They told me to forget him.
To forget the boy who looked at me like I was something worth saving.
But Dante was never just my stepbrother.
He was my first love.
My first sin.
The only person who ever saw past my walls.
Ten years later, he’s standing at my door again—older, quieter, carrying ghosts in his eyes.
The world carved pieces out of him while I learned how to live without breathing.
Now we’re here, face to face, pretending we can’t still feel the gravity pulling us back together.
We were told our love was wrong.
Maybe it still is.
But I’d rather be damned than live another life without him.

DANTE
They said time would fix me.
That the military would straighten me out, make me forget what I felt for him.
They were wrong.
No matter how far I went, I never outran Elio.
He was ink beneath my skin, a memory that never faded.
And now he’s here again—sharper, harder, heartbreak in human form.
One look, and I’m sixteen all over again, desperate for something I was never allowed to want.
But we’re not kids anymore.
We know exactly what this is.
Forbidden. Dangerously Broken. Ours.
Back in Twisted Oaks Valley, where the red leaves match the blood dripping from the scars we try to hide.
The orange from the brushes match the pumpkins lining the front porch steps, as the sun dies down beyond the horizon.
We aren't meant for happy endings but then again we never followed the rules before.
If loving him destroys us again,
then maybe we were meant to burn.

Thera's review:

I loved this book. Elio and Dante were everything. They loved each other so much. It was so sweet. I want more of them. They were perfect for each other. And I loved Elio's mother. The epilogue was so good too!
