My Christmas with the Krampus (MM Monsters & Mistletoe) by Gigi Rivers

MY CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRAMPUS is a human and krampus pairing holiday romance. Can a human on holiday find a forever relationship with a krampus?

From the blurb:

A bookish man trying to prove he’s not the dullard his ex claimed. A lonely krampus who shows him he’s enough as he is.

After a devastating breakup, Liam escapes on a snowy Christmas getaway to the other side of the world. Determined to prove to his ex he can be adventurous, he heads to the famous Krampus Run, where humans dressed as krampuses parade through the town.

Big mistake! It’s loud and chaotic, and the krampuses actually hit spectators with switches. Turns out his ex was right. Liam is a bore. Defeated, he leaves the festivities, only to accidentally walk out onto a snow-covered lake and plunge into the freezing water below.

Rejected in his search for love, Magnus joins the krampus parade to distract himself. The humans have no idea there’s a real monster among them. When Magnus spots a human falling through the ice, he dives in, rescues Liam, and looks after him.

Liam owes his life to the mysterious man in the krampus costume. But what happens when Liam discovers Magnus isn’t wearing a costume at all?

My Christmas with the Krampus is a cozy Christmas monster romance featuring hurt/comfort, only one bed, snowy nights turning steamy hot, makes him soup, fling becomes more, snowed in, and a krampus with a very long tongue who knows how to use it.

Molly Otto's review:

Liam after a bad break up and not wanting to deal with his ex, who happens to be close to his family still, takes a winter holiday to see real snow and prove hes not boring. In Mondovia, they have the annual Krampus Run, where real krampuses participate for the fun! Overwhelmed Liam leaves and finds hes not as ready for a solo winter, luckily for him a Krampus named Magnus saves him. Magnus having had a not great Krampus Assembly wants to sulk only to be begged to attend yhe Krampus Run, not wanting to stay he leaves early to spot and save Liam. These two are frigging adorable together, they just click and appreciate each other exactly as they are. A great feel good Christmas story in accepting yourself and being happy with your soulbound no matter who they are.

SNik's review:

Part of a multi-author series (MM Monsters & Mistletoe), but can be read as a standalone. Paranormal. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV.

Liam attempts to go on an adventure after a rough break-up with his long term boyfriend, but being stuck in a secluded cabin was not what he expected. When Magnus rescues Liam from a frozen ake his protective instincts come forth, but Liam is only visiting and how could it possibly work between a krampus and a human?

The hurt/comfort aspects of this story were heart wrenching as both Liam and Magnus have been rejected in the past but hopes for something more between them seems unattainable. I enjoyed Magnus’s protectiveness and caring, and Liam’s simple joys and willingness to share everything with Magnus. I do wish there was more about how they would make their relationship work longterm (and maybe see them adopt), but overall this was a sweet holiday read that brought a lot of love.

Lori C's review:

This book had me riding some emotional highs and lows. I did enjoy the story between Liam and Magnus! My heart hurt for both of them and they truly deserve their happiness together. I wish we had a little more closure on Liam fitting in with the clan and with what happened with his parents. How did they take his staying in Mondovia? Overall, I think the blooming soul bond between Liam and Magnus is the highlight of the story.
