Squad Ghouls (ExorSquad) by A. M. Rose

Ryan cannot get distracted by the shorts wearing owner of the B&B he is supposed to be ridding of ghosts. But when Owain introduces his squad of friendly ghosts, Ryan find himself wanting to protect Owain and anyone important to him, even if it means embracing an unusual found family.

From the blurb:

Haunting #500:
The Last Resort B&B

Number of ghosts: between 5 and 34, depending on whether the pirate ship crew counts as they are not, technically, inside the house? TBD?

Location: Pembrokeshire Coast,Wales

History: Unknown. Owner made a purchase of the estate in secret and refuses to share information with anyone.

Wanted: Immediate ghost removal. Owner being kept against his will. Possible mind control at play as he claims ghosts are his friends.

The ExorSquad Team: New recruit on a first assignment, Ryan Brolyn.

Additional notes: Do not go on board the pirate ship. Do not accept cookies. Massages are not complimentary and might result in unwanted possession. The shorts on the owner are a style choice, not a seduction attempt. Act accordingly. Owner has no clue his ass has the ability to topple nations. Welsh spoons are not supposed to be used like that.

Owain
Listen.
Owain was aware of the fact that ghosts in general were considered of…well…a questionable friendliness level, okay? Despite what his exes said, he wasn’t a complete ditz. But his ghosts, the ones that were indefinite guests at The Last Resort B&B when he bought it, were lovely.
Were they a bit loud? Sure. Did they come with a host of unresolved issues that caused them to riot sometimes? Of course. Were some of them trapped in that house against their will after a horrible death that left them unable to speak, or move on, thus resulting in about a century of pent-up rage that bubbled up to the surface every once in a while and threatened to send the entire building crumbling into the stormy sea beneath it? Also yes. But Owain wasn’t exactly a peach when he was annoyed, he even pouted sometimes, so he had no leg to stand on.
Which is why when his family goes against his wishes and hires the ExorSquad to get rid of his friends, Owain will do whatever he has to to stop that from happening. Including, but not limited to, deploying the neon-colored shorts of doom.

Ryan
He should have listened to his mother.
Ryan would absolutely never admit that to her, but he absolutely should have listened to her when she told him he was a moron who had no room starting a business of his own. Broke, jobless, and out of moves, he joins the ExorSquad to pay off some of his debts. The job is crap, the pay is crap, the clients are crap. But nothing tops the nerdy twink in neon-colored shorts insisting on calling ghosts friends, obstructing Ryan’s attempts to help him, and driving him insane in the process because…legs. And the greatest booty he has ever seen in his life.
Okay focus.
No booty, perfect or not, was going to distract him from the fact that this Welsh hottie had a ghostly pirate ship parked outside and a dangerous entity scratching at the walls trying to find a way inside. Screw an ExorSquad, this needed an ExorArmy.
He should have listened to his mother. Eff his life.

SNik's review:

Part of a multi-author series (ExorSquad), but can be read as a standalone. Paranormal. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Ryan comes to the Last Resort B&B to exterminate ghosts - business as usual - until he sets eyes on the gorgeous nerdy owner with the fabulous behind. Owain is just trying to run a business and keep his ghost friends safe, is that too much to ask?

This series has been a big hit with me and this story just adds to the fantastic reads of the ExorSquad. I really enjoyed how gobsmacked Ryan is over Owain and even though he may have been a playboy in the past there is nothing that can tear him away from Owain. The loyalty between the squad of ghosts and Owain was so fun, and Owain and Ryan protect their found family fiercely. Steamy from the start, I loved every minute Owain and Ryan were on page together, their interactions were funny and sweet (and should I mention again, steamy?). An entertaining story that wraps up this multi-author series that should not be missed.

Katriana Prey's review:

While I am bummed by the fact that the release of this book marks the end to the ExorSquad series, I have to say it was a really fabulous ending!!

Owain and Ryan couldn't be more different from each other, but after spending time together in close quarters, they find common ground in their differences. They both start to care for the ghosts that inhabit the B&B, they both like Welsh Cakes, (which I'm very curious about!), they both want to take down the owner of ExorSquad, and they both end up falling for the other man even with their differences.

This book had so much comedy, snark, and sass to it that it just made reading the book so enjoyable. I loved the banter between the MC's and how innocent Owain is at time. He's absolutely precious and I completely see why all the ghosts, and Ryan, are so protective of him. Ryan and Owain had a bit of a slow burn relationship which worked well for them, and the ghosts were fantastic!

I loved how each one was different and stood out from each other, they all had their own kooky personalities that made them strangely endearing. I do wish there wasn't as much focus on a certain part of Owain's assets..it started to make it seem like Ryan was superficial and his interests in Owain were strictly lust based. However, by the end I started to see that Ryan did develop feelings for Owain outside of body parts and that's when I started believing their relationship/interest in each other more.

All in all delightfully wonderful bokk with eclectic characters, slightly murderous ghosts, pranksters, and the end of ExorSquad..
