Double Mager (Urban Rivals Book 2) by Nazri Noor

Jericho and Theodore have noticed something unusual with the new popular jewelry charms being sold to the supernatural as well as the mundane communities. As they investigate they gather more help, deal with tricky gods, and maybe flirt (Jericho can't tell what the heck Theodore is doing).

From the blurb:

Two mages, two gods, one giant headache.

Echo and Morrow can’t catch a break. A new jewelry shop is all the rage in town, selling cute collectible charms that mesmerize anyone who wears them.

It's a familiar and potentially volatile flavor of magical mind control. They should have eliminated the Goddess of the Valley when they had the chance.

Echo has enough problems with goddesses to begin with. Freyja keeps following him around, tempting him with forbidden knowledge. A magical education, but at what cost?

And Morrow is being far too friendly these days. Echo’s straitlaced partner might not be so straight, after all.

As if he didn’t have it hard enough already.

Double Mager is a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers urban fantasy M/M romance featuring mouthy magical men, sassy banter, and a HFN ending.

SNik's review:

Second in series (Urban Rivals). Urban fantasy. Coworkers. Very slow burn/no burn. Found family. Single POV. Mild cliffhanger (HFN) as the series continues.

Jericho and Theodore are still working together for Occultech, keeping an eye out for any possible sightings of the Goddess of the Valley, when suddenly everyone has an interest in the sale of jewelry charms that are causing odd behavior. This story incorporates a new adventure with some secondary characters that are building their own little group to help each other investigate, and some fun cameos from the author’s Arcane Hearts series.

I enjoyed the bits about how Jericho’s unsure about Theodore’s romantic interest (and Theodore’s hot and cold behavior is no help), all the while he is trying to avoid the help of Freyja with learning to expand his magic abilities. Overall, a fun and quick adventure with Jericho and Theodore working together easily, getting to know each other a little better, and making headway towards the possibility of romance. Looking forward to more from these two.
