Wretched (Dark Delights Book 7) by KT Yarrow

A new demon is killing Paladins, but he spares Nicolas and instead insists that Nicolas belongs to him. But as much as Nicolas may want to explore his new attraction to Ashmedai he has to stay undercover at the Guild, and it becomes more difficult and dangerous each day.

From the blurb:

He’s a warrior for the light. But he belongs in the dark.

Nicolas Garcia is a paladin without a purpose. He slogs through each day wondering whether he’s doing the right thing. Captain of a squad who hates him and brother to a man who’s shunned by the guild, he barely recognizes the guild that raised him.

Ashmedai is a sin eater. A monster. He’s never wanted more than the hunt, but a chance encounter with a holy warrior leaves him reeling. He’s never felt like this before, and all he knows for certain is that Nicolas belongs to him. And he’ll do anything to have him.

The sin eater has been hunting paladins for weeks. Nicolas shouldn’t want him, but he craves Ashmedai in a way that isn’t rational. When he has to infiltrate the corrupt leadership of the guild to help innocents caught in the crossfire, it jeopardizes everything between them. Can a paladin really belong to a monster who thrives in the dark?

SNik's review:

Seventh in series (Dark Delights), best if read in order. Paranormal. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

When Nicolas and his squad run into a sin eater demon, Nicolas is the only one left alive, and for some reason yearning for the demon. But just as Ashmedai plans to claim Nicolas as his own, the teenage members of the Sentinels are kidnapped by the Paladin commander and Nicolas must remain undercover in the Guild to find their location.

This story immediately launches into the steamy connection between Ashmedai and Nicolas, and after the slightest hesitation Nicolas is all in with accepting they were meant to be together. For Ash there is nothing besides his belief that Nicolas is his, and he tries very hard to respect Nicolas’s wishes while working hard to make himself more familiar with the human world and how to navigate both friend and intimate relationships. I really enjoyed every moment Ash and Nicolas are on page together, and how this group readily embraces each new member/couple into their family. I’m still thoroughly invested in this series and these characters, each new couple has been fantastic and the overall plotline is sometimes dark but has this good group to root for.
