Walker is following his family's journalistic legacy and is a popular social media influencer trying to get the local hockey star's interview, but Ty wants nothing to do with him. When they finally come to an agreement, animosity turns to sparks of attraction and as a relationship blooms there is the hovering end date of when Ty enters the pros.
From the blurb:
The hockey star, the influencer, and the deal of a lifetime.
Ty
I’m going to the pros, baby! Deal made, contract signed. Now all I have to do is finish out my final season at Smithton and stay out of trouble. I like to have a good time, but don’t worry, I’ll behave.
What I won’t do is talk to that double-crossing influencer who’s been badgering me for an interview. No thanks.
I know Walker’s type—sweet as pie on the outside, a shark on the inside.
Get this…he wants to make a deal that sounds a lot like a bribe.
Not interested. No way.
But I am curious.
Walker
I’ve never worked so hard for an interview in my life. Ugh!
Look, I get that Ty doesn’t like me. As in…he won’t return my calls and avoids me like the plague on campus.
Too bad. I’m not giving up.
I don’t want to beg, but I’m willing to barter. Every man has his price—and something to prove.
Even Ty.
Something to Prove is a low-angst, geek-jock MM bisexual college hockey romance featuring a hockey star and the adorkable influencer who’s determined to win him over…
SNik's review:
Second in series (Smithton Bears), but can be read as a standalone. Jock/geek. Adversarial to lovers. Dual POV.
Ty is holding a grudge, and there’s nothing influencer Walker can do to change his mind, not even apologies or Walker’s sparkling personality, or is there? Finally landing an interview with hockey star Ty, Walker is relieved but also surprised by how much chemistry they have whenever they are in each other’s orbits.
Both Ty and Walker are likable characters, both with difficult pasts they are trying to overcome, and although at first at odds, Ty is able to see beyond his initial judgement to give them a chance to become friends. I really appreciated how Ty and Walker build their relationship with banter, flirting, honest communication and spending time together learning about each other. Ty and Walker are steamy and sweet together, falling into a relationship that even though they don’t label it becomes a committed, loving, worth the risk kind of connection. A fun series so far.
