Love Notes (Harmony Lake) by Lisa Henry

Love Notes is a part a multi author small town romance series of four best friends finding their partners. This is a low angst forced proximity romance.

From the blurb:

Two hearts, one cabin: Can a quiet woodworker and a struggling author carve out a love story together?

Ryan Devlin loves his life in Caldwell Crossing. His career as a woodworker is fulfilling, and his close-knit group of friends are like brothers to him. Ryan is quiet and introverted and not interested in making changes to his life and his routines—not when he still struggles with memories of childhood bullying and feelings of inadequacy. But when his sister needs to relocate a short-stay guest because of a plumbing emergency at her rental house and asks to use Ryan’s cabin, how can he say no?

Adam Nelson comes to Caldwell Crossing to finish writing the latest book in his cozy murder mystery series—after the last one was trashed in a viral review. He needs peace and quiet and to be left undisturbed. So why can’t he stay away from the handsome woodworker whose workshop is next door to the gorgeous lakeside cabin he’s staying in?

As Ryan and Adam connect and their friendship shifts into something more, can they decide whether to trust their growing feelings and put their faith into the fate that brought them together?

Love Notes contains an introverted, dyslexic woodworker, a writer pretending to his agent that everything is under control, found family, best friends, and a cat with no name.

Molly Otto's review:

A cute low angst small town romance of a woodworker and an author who ends up taking over his home on vacation due to bursting pipe. Ryan's friends all have been pairing up, leaving him feeling unsettled, not knowing if his long-time friends will stay in Harmony Lake. Adam needed a vacation to regroup and get past his writers block after a not so pleasant review that he begrudgingly agreed with in parts. Lisa does a beautiful job in handling Ryan's dyslexia & dyscalculia in showing the tools he uses to overcome and strive in his business. Adam, unaware of this, leaves him love notes, that he has his friends decipher. Loved the simplicity of this relationship and the build-up for them to move forward in their relationship. The relationship didn't feel forced, it just naturally went the course needed.

Heather's Review:

Our fourth and final friend finds his person and bring this series full circle by bringing the author that Ben roasted in book 1 to Caldwell Crossing!  I love how their love story evolves and how both men use their innate skills to show their affection for each other...  I love how strong Ryan is and how he handles his dyslexia and dyscalculia in such a positive way and that he has built such a strong and supportive network.

Most of the angst in this book comes from Ryan's insecurity about sharing his differences in learning with Adam, which I think is a fairly typical pattern...  I love how both men build each other up and are so positive in their growing attraction and affection.

As much as I hate the idea of leaving Harmony Lake, this book encapsulated all the best things about the town and the men who have made up this series and leaves you just a little more positive that if the world had more Harmony Lakes it would be a much better place.
