My Not So Purrfect Angel by Colette Davison

My Not So Purrfect Angel is a standalone human/angel romance. Kai has been Leo's guardian angel, watching over him for the last 17 years, albeit in cat form, until his 'cover' is blown one day.

From the blurb:

What do you do when you find out your cat is an angel?

Freak out. Check.

Take him to a wedding as your plus one. Check.

Fall in love?

Kai is chaotic, adorable, and not what I imagined an angel would be like. He’s naive in so many ways, especially when it comes to intimacy.

I need to loosen up and trust Kai’s instincts, but it’s hard when I’m worried about hurting him. Can I overcome my overly cautious nature and learn to go with the flow?

My Not So Purrfect Angel is a mostly fluffy M/M paranormal romance with a smidge of angst, meddling family members, a night in a castle with only one bed, and a human falling in love with his guardian angel.

TW: Mentions of the deaths of family members in the past.

Rogue's review:

- human/angel
- low/no angst

Kai has been Leo's guardian angel for the last 17 years. In the form of a cat, admittedly. I liked the idea that Kai has been protecting Leo without him knowing about it as his guardian angel - it could come across as creepy if it wasn't written as well as it is. Kai is just so charming and naive at the start that it's impossible not to love him. He is so genuine and guileless and just ... good, all he wants is the best for Leo. Then his cover is blown one day, and Leo finds out his cat isn't just his cat and things develop from there.

I really enjoyed the story, it's fun and light with very little angst except a couple of moments. I liked Leo very much too, he'd been through quite a lot in his life but again was a good person and I enjoyed seeing him teach Leo everything. If anything, I wasn't sure about Leo's family - there's meddling and there's downright interfering and being pushy and I think they crossed that line to being inappropriate, I didn't find them that that charming although they did mean well, I suppose.

I loved Leo and Kai though, Kai learning all about being human, and human interactions was funny, cringe, and altogether delightful though. I liked the ending too, originally I thought I'd have liked an epilogue so we find out how they navigated everything, but on reflection I think I prefer how it was left more open-ended, it felt more hopeful that way. I really enjoyed this, and I think it was my first (but not last) from this author.

Thera Rhodes review:

This book was so cute and sweet. I loved that Kai and Leo went slow once Leo got over the fact his cat was an angel. I enjoyed all the kissing between the two of them. Everything they did was super romantic. If you're looking for a swoon worthy book this is it.
