Easton is the beautiful yet heart wrenching second book in the Swift Brothers series. Be prepared to have your heart ripped out and then haphazardly put back together in this truly amazing journey of coming out the other side of pain and grief.
From the blurb:
Easton
I’m the youngest Swift brother. The one who’s always in trouble and can’t get his life together. I wouldn’t know where to start, and ever since my twin died, I can’t bring myself to care. After my last “situation,” Dad washed his hands of me. And though my brothers should’ve done the same, they stood up for me, fracturing their relationship with him too. He’s a terrible father to all of us, but considering we’re just figuring out how to build a relationship, I don’t want them to lose him because of me.
Officer Archer Thorn won’t stop coming around either. After every screwup, every bad day, Archer’s there to offer a hand. Before I know it, we’re going to dog parks, sharing meals, and Archer seems at home hanging at my place. When he touches me, fills me, all the noise in my head goes quiet. He makes me want more, but he doesn’t know how much that terrifies me, how much I worry that getting better means breaking a promise I made years ago.
Each moment with Archer shows me how good a man he is. For the first time, I actually want to face my trauma and get over my past. Archer makes me see there’s beauty in the world and, more importantly, he makes me want some of it for myself…that is, if I don’t ruin Archer Thorn first.
Easton is a small-town, hurt/comfort romance full of heart, heat, a touch-starved MC, and brothers learning how to have a relationship with each other. It deals with themes of grief, death of a parent and a sibling, and mental-health struggles.
Molly Otto's review:
When you meet Easton in Morgan's story, you know his story is going to be something special. This poor man has suffered so much from those who should love him. Instead of being there, they push him away, and really, it's no wonder he does what he does. Then you have Archer, who sees the Easton that even Easton can not see. Archer makes it possible for him to open up and be loved finally. Archer and his family have such beautiful souls it's no wonder they are the people who get Easton to flourish. Above all, this is a story of acceptance and moving forward, showing that even after all these years, you can take those healing steps. You deserve to be happy and loved. If you put the work in and all parties want to, you can come out on the other side stronger. The Swift boys may all be broken thanks to their father, but they are starting the journey to healing. Its a beautiful thing to see the little moments the brothers allow themselves to open up and hope with Rhett's story. we get to see more of that.
Heather's Review:
This book made me bawl... like multiple tissues and a crying hangover bawl... but it was so worth it to see Easton and Archer get together and to see Easton take control of his life and his future. Archer is such a sweet soul and this pairing is lovely, as they both have degrees of past guilt. I love that this story builds them both up and gives them the chance to find both love and happiness! This story also includes a lot of brotherly relationship building and getting to see Morgan becoming more stable in his world was also lovely to see. I am anticipating the final book and buying stock in Scotties (the tissue manufacturer here in Canada)
