Part of a multi-author series (Subparheroes), but can be read as a standalone. Paranormal. Found family. Fated mates. Dual POV.
Scott never imagined his special taste ability would land him a job as a secret agent for a paranormal group, but he goes along with the meager training and ends up investigating possible illegal drugs in a small special town filled with psychics, shifters and other supernatural people. Gage is a Malinois dog shifter that has been focused on running his bar, but finding a mate has always been his dream and when he meets Scott he feels that possible connection.
However, Scott is undercover and even as they get closer, he is supposed to focus on his investigation, not his possible forever mate. There is quite a bit of internal dialoguing, but both Gage and Scott are likable characters, and they quickly acknowledge they will do anything to make their relationship and mate bond work. A bit of humor, a bit of sweetness, a bit of found family, and a bit of action made this a fun read.
