Jamie's Light by Madalyn George

What a great book from a new-to-me author!  Jamie's Light is the first book in The Hampton Valley Boys series.

From the blurb:

Jamie
Thanksgiving weekend at home seemed like more of a chore than a celebration since my wife had died, but I would never begrudge my daughter the love and attention of our big crazy family just to wallow in self pity. I could always return to that next week.

Devon
Thanks to the fact that my best friend’s family literally lives five feet away from campus, I have a home to go to for Thanksgiving that doesn’t involve traveling clear across the county for a few short days. It’s an easy choice, since I’ll see my family in less than a month for winter break anyway.

When two strangers, one the older brother and the other the best friend, unexpectedly end up sharing the same bedroom, will a holiday they were both just looking to get through end up being the most important event of their lives?

Angel's Review:

A great bi awakening, single dad romance story, from a new-to-me author. I haven't read anything by Madalyn George before, she's a new-to-me author, and I am very glad I was able to discover her book!

Jamie is a single dad who's struggling with letting his family help him, when he feels he's supposed to be the one helping them, not the other way around. After his wife passed he has been raising his daughter with the help of his family. When him and his daughter arrive at his parents home to find a strange man in his bed his life irrevocably changes.

Devon is Josh's roommate and his best friend, Josh is Jamie's younger brother. When Josh invited Devon to come spend Thanksgiving with Josh and his family, Devon accepts. Little did he know he would leave the holiday with a fling set up.

The relationship between Devon and Jamie was slowly developed and crafted so nothing was rushed or overlooked. They took their time to get to know one another, and to take things slow as far as Vera was concerned. Vera's character was a whirlwind! She was such an exuberant character and added a great lightness to the story. I really enjoyed how important the familial component was in this story, you could feel how close all of them were with one another. I want to know more about each and every brother, particularly; Hunter, Aj, Josh, and Vance. I hope they get their own stories at some point, cause if they do.. I will certainly be reading them!

Overall the writing for this book was great! It has a nice pace, good background, there was nice character building, along with having really sweet family shenanigan moments.
