A very emotional story about pain and healing

“Dark Justice” can easily be read as a standalone story—I’m familiar with almost all of Colin and Josh’s books, so I was already looking forward to this latest one.
The writing style is wonderful; I got into the story very quickly. Josh and Colin are very likable characters who are portrayed with depth. The story is dark and emotional, but also suspenseful and has a happy ending.
Colin and Josh learn the hard way that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. They’re threatened, and even though they’re under protection, an attack on the two of them succeeds, with fatal consequences. It wasn’t easy to watch as the proud, protective, and life-loving Colin broke down under the pain of guilt and failure. Josh is very supportive, but his mere presence isn’t enough to take away Colin’s pain. But Josh wouldn’t be Josh if he didn’t know what to do. And that’s why he sends Colin back to his homeland, Ireland. The time in Ireland is emotional, but also healing; Colin is able to ground himself and put things in perspective in order to heal.
It was wonderful to read about how deeply connected the two of them are and how they never lose that closeness despite the distance. This is a great story about pain and healing, written with real emotion, and an absolute must-read for fans of Colin and Josh! I also love their friendship and the roles played by David and Nate. And David is such a rock: he doesn’t mince words and speaks openly when he sees a problem—a true friend and very helpful with his level-headed nature.
The audiobook version comes highly recommended! As always, Walker Walker Williams has done a fantastic job. He found the right voices for all the characters, making it easy to tell them apart. He conveyed the emotions perfectly and brought the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to him!
