Where the Tides Meet by Elijah Her

Where the Tides Meet is an Achillean retelling of The Little Mermaid, with a twist. As soon as I saw the beautiful cover for this book and read the blurb, I knew I had to read this book.

From the blurb:

Prince Rylen of the merfolk has watched his people bleed beneath the weight of human cruelty for far too long. Desperate to turn the tide, he seeks out the exiled seawitch—feared, forgotten, and boundless in her magic. United by vengeance, she grants him a forbidden gift: the ability to walk upon land.

Disguised as a human, Rylen rises from the depths with a singular purpose—to uncover and punish those responsible for the suffering of his kin. But the world above is not what he expected. And neither is the human who begins to unravel his hatred.

As he treads deeper into unfamiliar soil, Rylen is forced to confront the truth: not all monsters wear legs, and not all kindness wears scales. Torn between duty and desire, vengeance and vulnerability, he must choose what kind of prince he wishes to become.

What if the divide between land and sea could be mended? And what if, against all odds, he found himself longing to be part of their world?

Angel's review:

Merfolk are one of my favorite species/paranormal creatures to read about, I'm completely enamored by them. Having said that, I think Elijah did a really lovely job creating his own merfolk and this beautiful world!

There are definite similarities of the classic fairy tale that this is a retelling of, rightfully so, but it also is its own story as well. Yes, there are similarities, but there are also so many extra details/moments that occur in this book that set it apart.

Rylen and Titus were such a joy to read about, I'm honestly sad that this book isn't longer as I would have loved to see it extended, simply because I enjoy these characters and this mystical and magical world so much.

All in all, a really fabulous book that I highly recommend you read!
