Date in a Pinch (Naughty in Pendleton) by Brigham Vaughn; Narrated by James Edward Jones

The first in a small town series where two teachers find they share kink and a connection.

From the blurb:

A sweet geek and his kinky tutor: someone’s about to learn their lesson …

When chemistry teacher Neil Greene gets an unexpected delivery at Pendleton High, he's mortified when his fellow teacher and crush sees the contents that hint at the adventurous love life he’s dying to explore. Curious but inexperienced, Neil has no idea how to live out his fantasies until the hot lit teacher offers a helping hand.

Alexander Ford likes to be in charge in the bedroom and he’s happy to tutor Neil in all things naughty. But when Neil asks him to pretend to be his date for the Sweetheart’s Game at Pendleton Bay’s Love Fest, Neil may be the one teaching Alexander about love.

Note: Date in a Pinch was re-released in April 2021 with a brand new cover and an additional 11k of steamy new content.

Lesetiger's review:

I’ve read quite a few books by this author before, but they were mostly stories about sports. So I found it interesting to read about a different topic this time. The writing style is great, and the story is told alternately from the perspectives of Neil and Alexander, who are both teachers at the same school in a small town. I got into the story right away.

Alexander is a dom who recently moved there and is already divorced. Neil, on the other hand, hasn’t found the right partner yet, but he has a bit of a crush on his colleague Alexander.

I really liked both characters; they’re very likable, and it was cute when they discovered shared interests and slowly embarked on their kinky journey together. Alexander set clear boundaries from the start because he doesn’t want to get hurt again. The chemistry between them is there, and together they’re pretty hot. With so much chemistry, it’s no wonder that one of them eventually falls in love. But what now?

The love story was really sweet, and the exploration of a gentle Dom/sub relationship was also handled brilliantly. Both have a past, and they have to learn that something new can be good too, and that it’s perfectly okay to let go sometimes. The author portrayed their inner conflicts well.

I found the story very entertaining because it’s captivatingly written and has great characters. There’s some drama, but also plenty of passion and romance.

James Edward Jones is, as always, a wonderful narrator. He’s very good at capturing the characters and the mood, bringing the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to him.
