Escape from Damiano may not be possible, as Caligula needs his protection now more than ever. But they are still at odds, and old hatred and recent lies further separates them as the danger surrounding them comes closer with each day.
From the blurb:
He swore he'd make me pay. But I've found his weakness. And I'll never let him break me.
The Beast Who Broke Me is book 2 of an ongoing-couple trilogy. Expect dark dealings, obsession, possessiveness, toxic dynamics, and all the red flags. These antiheroes will earn their happily ever after, but they'll have to fight hard to get there.
SNik's review:
Second in trilogy (Clemenza Family), must be read in order. Former captor/captive. Forced proximity. Size difference. Age gap. Found family. Dual POV. Cliffhanger. Heed content warnings.
Immediately picking up where the first book left off, Caligula doesn’t get far when he tries to run from Damiano, and they are further entangled when more mafia/mob families are involved. Both Cal and Dami again try to come out on top in their power struggle, and the hate and lust still remain strong.
This entry certainly didn’t shy away from the cruelty Cal and Dami inflict on each other, and it was difficult to read at times as there are no soft emotions between them. Cal and Dami have a good read on the other and I enjoyed seeing Cal flex his mafia savvy and Dami become even more protective of the younger man. The external pressures and danger to them are becoming more extreme and of course just when there is the possibility of them forming a partnership the story has its cliffhanger which is a nail biter for sure. I am still thoroughly invested in seeing how the MC’s survive, navigate a trusting relationship, and possibly come out on top.
