Death is his master, but when Soul feels the pull to his soulmate, he cannot deny Caiden anything. Can Caiden and Soul find a way to stay together for eternity?
From the blurb:
There’s a sacred balance that must be kept. Death is final—the mortal world is for the living.
And when that balance is upset, the hounds will hunt.
Soul - Death’s Hound
I am Death’s Hound, and I was made for one purpose: to hunt down wayward souls. It should be easy, hunting down a man who escaped to the mortal realm and leaves behind a trail of blue flowers wherever he walks… so why is it when I see him, the only thing I want to do is protect him?
Why is it when I see him, the only thing I can think is that he’s supposed to be mine?
Caiden - The Wayward Soul
My life was nothing but moments of pain and sacrifice, of knowing that everything would eventually come to an end. When a Reaper took me by the hand and promised to take care of my brother, I thought I could finally rest.
Dying didn’t give me the peace I thought it would, but trying to escape Death’s grasp brought me the one thing I thought I’d never have. A monster. A hunter…
My soulmate.

Soul’s Hunt is a Dual POV MM novella about a lost soul looking for something to make him feel complete and the soul hound who will do anything to make him happy. Expect sweet emotions and a journey that spans through grief, love, and a well deserved HEA.
SNik's review:
#2.5 in series (A Twisted Fate), best if read in order. Novella. Paranormal. Soulmates. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
A soulhound that only knows of one existence is pulled towards a connection to an escaped soul. Caiden isn’t sure why he’s wandering but he doesn’t want to return to the Lake, and now Soul is stuck in human shape and feels compelled to stay close; they agree to help each other.
If you’re familiar with Caiden’s background from Death’s Kiss this story hits harder emotionally. Plus, Soul’s unexpected dedication to Caiden is sweet and makes the idea of both of them needing each other swoon worthy. This story has a protective supernatural weapon for Death and the sacrificing human he is tied to, and it was a dreamy, sometimes steamy, read.
Angel's review:
I thought this book was great! The writing flowed beautifully as per usual with Lee's spectacular writing and the characters were just absolute sweethearts. Even the growling 'puppy'. I adored how even when these two were weary of each other and scared, (even though Soul will never admit that), they still knew they were safe with each other. I thought that was beautiful how their souls just knew.
I also enjoyed the banter between these two, it was funny and comedic at times, but this book did still have some heavy topics being discussed. I really appreciate when an author can balance seriousness with a bit of playfulness and can do it well, which is exactly what Lee did here.
We also got to see a certain Cupid again along with the resident grump who lives in the cemetery. I'm so curious about both of those characters that I hope one day we'll get their stories too!
While it is recommended to read this series in order for maximum enjoyment, I do think it's possible to read this as a standalone. However! You will be missing out on crucial information that's referenced within this story if you start with this book instead of the prior ones.
