Hart's Redemption (Lycan Detective Duet Book 2) by S. Bolanos

A bond that can't be broken, but there are still obstacles to overcome if they are to survive. Elijah and Joh are determined to be together, but getting to their dream HEA is going to take a lot of trust.

From the blurb:

The Klamath Pack is safe.
Beatrice Harker is gone.
The bond is secure.

Lycan Detective Joshua Hart and Elijah Bennett finally have the space to explore the love that has blossomed between them. Or they would if Josh hadn’t turned. Something that should have been impossible. Now he’s stuck and a danger to everyone, including himself.

At his wit’s end, Elijah takes desperate measures to bring Josh’s mind back. But for every solution he finds, three more problems emerge. Then Josh’s medical leave runs out.

In the blink of an eye, Josh is spirited away to an undisclosed location that strains a bond that should be unbreakable, leaving Elijah frantic to find him.

Communication has never been their strong suit and it may have cost them everything. Clearly they’re still keeping secrets,
but
Not all truths set you free.

SNik's review:

Second in duology (Lycan Detective Duet). Paranormal. Established relationship. Dual POV. Content warnings for violence and death.

Josh survived his mother’s brutal attack, but hasn’t returned to his human form and Elijah is desperate to help him. Elijah and Josh continue to face all sorts of outside obstacles, but as they work on their bond they become even closer.

There are quite a few knots to untangle in this end of the duet. The story spent a lot of time on certain aspects and not as much on others which made it feel not as complete to me. Elijah and Josh continue to love hard but keep secrets, and we don’t get as much of the secondary cast of characters which I really wish we could have seen more of. Plenty of steam and exclamations of love made this work, but seeing Elijah and Josh further in the future along with their packmates would have really rounded out the storyline. Still, an entertaining supernatural and futuristic duet.
