Sweetest Blood by Regitse Liljadorff

Sweetest Blood is a vampire/witch romance between a wealthy vampire and the surprise mate he adores. Expect lots of biting, found family, and an evil witch coven that gets what is coming to them!

From the blurb:

Felix.

When my sister gets cursed into a coma by a witch coven, I’m forced to pay them blackmail to free her of the curse. I’m a witch without a coven and have no one to help me. So, when my best friend Claire mentions my Gran’s old grimoire, I find answers in the form of blood sweetener potion. I become a feeder to vampires, earning a lot of money because of my sweet tasting blood. But it isn’t until my newest vampire master, Severin, mentions that we’re fated, that I realize playing around with blood could be dangerous. How am I supposed to keep away from one of the oldest vampires when he demands we are meant to be? I can only hope Severin won’t kill me when the potion’s effect wears off.

Severin.

Having finally found my fated, life seems perfect for the first time since I became a vampire. However, the coven who took his sister is way more sinister than we originally thought, and soon we find ourselves at war with the coven. I can only hope my new happiness will last. At least we will not fight them alone. Our allies, family, and friends will be there with us, making sure we all get a happily ever after.

Sweetest Blood is a paranormal standalone, featuring a vampire and a witch destined to be together. It’s filled with found family, magic, and biting. HEA guaranteed.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

This was a new to me author I took a chance on and I am happy I did. I enjoyed this. It was much fluffier than I expected with the big battle and what was to come. There were some darker parts, but the main theme was more light.

After an evil coven puts his sister in a coma and then turns around to blackmail her brother Felix into paying them off, Felix doesn't feel like he has a lot of options. This is what leads him to becoming a vampire feeder. It pays well and over the years he's had some interesting "masters." Being a witch means Felix is also able to sweeten his blood with a potion, making him very marketable to the vamps. It isn't until he meets his newest master Severin that he realizes this may be a problem.

I adored Severin. Even though Felix is honest with him about sweetening his blood, Severin is absolutely sure that the witch is his mate. I did think it was important to Felix for them to wait until the potion would have worn off to be sure and I was glad that Severin didn't push. In fact, all Severin wanted to do was to pamper Felix. He wanted him protected and cared for and loved. Who could ask for anything more?

We meet quite a few side characters that are sure to make you fall in love with them too, however the author had been adamant this book is a standalone and they made sure it was. All the characters you hope to see paired off end up doing just that. The only thing we don't get is their inner thoughts on the matter as this book is only told in Severin and Felix's POVs. The found family aspect of it all was very enjoyable and this book has made me check out the authors backlist for some future reads to add to my TBR.
