Two athletes on vacation, two weeks together with no strings. But once they return home they both feel the loss, and when they both make the USA Olympic team can they agree to make something work no matter their busy lives and long distance apart?
From the blurb:
Two weeks. No promises. Just passion… until the Winter Games change everything.
Jack O’Leary, veteran defenseman and captain of the Railers, isn’t sure where his life’s headed. Fresh off a painful divorce and staring down the end of his career, he books a vacation to clear his head—romance not included. But when he meets a fiery young snowboarder who refuses to let him hide behind his walls, Jack finds himself falling hard for the first time in years. When their paths cross again at the Winter Games, Jack must decide if he’s brave enough to chase the future he never expected.
Tian-Lei Cai-Wilder’s living the dream—endorsements, medals, and the bright spotlight of snowboarding fame. His reward? Two weeks in the sun to finally breathe. Meeting Jack wasn’t part of the plan, but the gruff, gorgeous hockey legend is impossible to resist. Their vacation fling burns hot and ends clean… or so Tian thinks. When they’re both chosen for Team USA, sparks fly all over again—only this time, the whole world is watching.
Powder is a steamy age-gap, opposites-attract, second-chance sports romance featuring a brooding hockey veteran, a golden-boy snowboarder, and a fling that refuses to stay in the past.
SNik's review:
Third in series (Railers Legacy). Age gap. POC representation. Dual POV.
A vacation hookup between two pro athletes becomes something neither can forget. Snowboarder Tian is instantly attracted to older hockey player Jack, and they spend two wonderful weeks together. After the vacation is over, neither Jack nor Tian can let go of all the feelings, but they are both busy athletes that live hundreds of miles apart.
Given that this started just as a hookup and is short term, this was written so well that we get to see the time Jack and Tian spend together and not just in bed. Reunited with the Olympics as a backdrop, I really appreciated that both men were honest and communicated their feelings right away, not wanting to give up on their chance at a forever relationship. The pining felt equal on both sides, both characters were likable and fell just as deeply for the other, the relationship felt genuine and sweet. Another great addition to this series.
Heather's Review:
Totally loving this age-gap, opposites attract story from two of my favourite co-authors! It totally matches their Railers Legacy vibe and gives us a deep dive into how two men at the peak of their very intense careers can make a relationship work if they really want it to... what starts as a hook-up leads to so much more and I was there to devour their entire story. I also love that neither MC is white... it adds a layer of depth to the story and makes me want to see more from them as their relationship continues - VL & RJ are great about integrating past couples in their books and I definitely want to see more of these two in the future.
