Gravity (The Saltwater Trilogy Book 2) by AG Meiers

The second entry into the Saltwater Trilogy. This book brings Sean and Tanner closer while dredging up more of their pasts and obstacles to overcome. Loving this series so far. I’m so not good with cliffhangers and yet AG Meiers writes them so well. February and the series finale isn’t that far away right?

From the blurb:

The past comes crashing down. It’s gravity…

Unfinished business is my middle name.

Hiding in my small town in Maine is no longer an option. I have to go back to Chicago and deal with the fallout of the scandal that cost me my family and my career. Avoiding Tanner Weston is a perk! We’re like fireworks—spectacular in the dark, but plain dangerous in the cold light of day. He tossed me aside so he could focus on reuniting his broken family. I understand.

I wasn’t expecting a warm welcome back home, but I didn’t anticipate running straight into trouble. When I find myself up to my neck in danger—again—it’s Tanner who comes to my rescue. No explanation given. Gloriously arrogant as ever.

Now, we’ll have to join forces and find a way to close the door on my past once and for all.

I can only hope we’ll get it done before it drags Tanner and his innocent, younger brother into the darkness that once nearly destroyed me…

Gravity, book 2 in the Saltwater Trilogy, is a fast-paced, hurt/comfort, M/M romantic suspense featuring two men with nothing in common but an excess of emotional baggage. If you love grit, heart, a good redemption arc, and a hard-won happily ever after, dive into the Saltwater Trilogy today.

TW: alcohol addiction, mention of off-page SA (side character), aging parent with dementia

SNik's review:

Second in series (The Saltwater Trilogy), must be read in order. Semi-established couple. Small town. Found family. Hurt/comfort. Slow burn. Single POV. Heed content warnings.

Immediately starting from where book 1 ended, Sean is in Chicago trying to tie together why someone from his past might have tried to kill him while leaving Tanner behind. When Tanner follows him and helps, they clash while attraction overrides their hesitations all over again.

I am still overly invested in this series, Sean being such an empathetic character as he tries to overcome his past to start trusting his own judgement while navigating the pitfall of his interactions with Tanner. Luckily we get some redemption from Tanner, he finally communicates more with Sean and admits his faults and errors. It was nice to see Sean reconnect with some people in Chicago, and getting more information about his past, but being back in Maine is where the story really feels more comfortable as they are surrounded by their found family. Cannot wait for the finale to this trilogy, as I’m sure Sean and Tanner will face more obstacles before getting a well-deserved HEA.

Lori C's review:

Sean ran away! He did, that man tucked his tail and ran straight to the bottle and Chicago. He needed to go back though. He needed to find out what is happening and how is Mom is doing. Seeing his Aunt and having her welcome him back, that just healed his heart.

Tanner needs…well he needs to get his head on straight. I will say that this book totally redeems him in my eyes. I wonder if others feel the same way? I loved how KC got his closure. I hope he gets more healing in the final book of the trilogy. I love Sean and Tanner together. I think they’re both stronger and soften each other’s rough edges. I really enjoy this happy for right now. I have so many thoughts for book three. Bee and KC, do they get some more time in the storyline? What about Rose? What will A G Meiers do next? KC helped solve his case, the bad guy chasing Sean is gone, is something coming for Tanner or the family as a whole? I can’t remember the last time I was so hooked into a story. I’ve been so into paranormal romance lately and I feel like AG Meiers just snapped me back to the contemporary mystery romance side of the genre.
