Ginger Snapped by Sarah Honey

Ginger Snapped is a small town holiday romance. This is a 'rivals' to lovers one bed story. This is a sweet, not quite enemies to lovers story set in Vermont. It has a bad kitty, forced proximity, and a happily ever after ending.

From the blurb:

Cameron Parker has held the title of Gingerbread King for four years running. Sugar Hollow’s annual Christmas Gingerbread House Competition is the one time of year introverted Cameron comes out of his shell, reveling in the opportunity to show off his spectacular baking and decorating skills. But this year there’s a new face in town, and not only is he coming for Cameron’s crown, he’s doing it with a flirty wink and a smile. But if Finn Kelly thinks his red hair, good looks and charm will win Cameron over, he can think again.

Finn Kelly moved to Sugar Hollow for a fresh start. When he hears about the local gingerbread house competition, he enters as a way to make friends— and maybe to catch the attention of shy local, Cameron Parker. But Finn’s attempts at flirting fall flat, and it becomes clear that Cameron sees Finn as a rival, not a potential date.

When an accident leads to Finn staying with Cameron at his cabin and a snowstorm traps them there, Cameron has to rethink his initial impression of Finn. Is it possible that there’s more to this cute, cocky city boy than meets the eye?

Ginger Snapped is a fun, low-angst Christmas novella that features rivals to lovers and only one bed, and where the gingerbread’s not the only thing that’s sweet and spicy.

Molly Otto's review:

A perfect small-town feel-good holiday read. Finn moved to Sugar Hollow for a fresh start, not expecting a run in with a snarky man would kickstart his passion for baking once again. Cameron is the reigning champion of the Gingerbread House Baking Completion and the new guy in town seems to keep popping up in his way. These two so awkwardly flirt over misunderstandings you cannot help but cackle with each interaction. Yes, this is a shorter read, but that works for the story you hit what needs to be hit and these two just work beautifully together. The animosity over misconceptions shouldn't have been so dang endearing and yet here we are. A great addition to this years holiday reading line up.

Lori C's review:

Cameron is an awkward librarian that loves to bake and win the annual gingerbread contest. He’s newly single and dad to a very grumpy cat. He and Finn Kelly meet in a very not quite meet cute. Cam isn’t sure what to make of Finn. Is he actually flirting or just trying to make fun of him?

I thought this story was so cute! I am all for holiday romances and am ready for each and every holiday romance to come out this year. I adore Cameron and totally get his baking fixation. Baking just makes me feel better. I actually plan to try the gingerbread recipe this year. Finn is a cutie pie and I really like the way he helps Sherri out with tips on icing. When Finn tells Cameron his ex is an idiot, I cheered. When he closed the blind on the lady at the bakery, I laughed. Cameron and Finn’s ending is the cutest ending of a romance yet.

Mary C.'s review:

Such a cute holiday read! It has just a taste of all things sweet and sexy for Christmas...meet uglies, baking cookies, sweet hometown librarian, new to the town baker, gingerbread "houses" contest, snow, one bed, a88hole the cat. Perfect for a chilly day with a cup of hot chocolate and a gingerbread man!

Angel's review:

I absolutely loved Cameron and Finn's story! They were a hilariously awkward mess at the best of times, there were so many things that were working against them but somehow they made it through! This is full of humor, snarky, sass, a very destructive cat, and lots of cookies!!

I'm a baker, and I love making cookies, so for this book to literally have TWO MC's making and decorating cookies was such a terrific surprise and was so wonderful to read about! As someone who baked, the baking scenes were accurate and described quite well!

There are certain moments where you're going to think Cameron's a bit of a jerk, and not going to lie, he was. But! Once you keep reading, you'll realize that it isn't intentional and he doesn't mean to come across in a mean way. I appreciated how even though both of these men made mistakes, they forgave each other.

I wouldn't classify this as a Christmas book, but the holidays are mentioned every so often, so if that's something you're curious about there you go!

P.S. I want to bake cookies now...

Heather's Review:

This was a lovely novella that put me in the mood to start planning my holiday baking! I enjoyed the rivalry and getting to know what made both Finn and Cameron tick!  I also love the ending to the gingerbread contest!
