Our favorite mullet sporting Wingman gets his story at last in THE WINGER. This is an age gap romance with plenty of spice and swoon.
From the blurb:
Wanted: An Experienced Player To Teach Me The Rules
When I finally admit my attraction to men might be more than just curiosity, I start questioning everything about myself. I’d always been told I couldn’t be gay and play rugby, but my teammates are proof that isn’t true.
Now I’m fixated on all the filthy things Ezra, the Knights’ hot, older Head of Marketing, might do to me. Maybe I shouldn’t be flirting with him, but I’m too intrigued to stop. Ezra’s life is as messy as mine, however when he offers me a safe way to explore my feelings without judgement I can’t resist.
Neither of us is here for a relationship, and neither of us is ready for one… So why does Ezra make me feel things I’ve never experienced before?
Would it be wrong for me to fall for the man with the shattered heart?
Molly Otto's review:
Well I was not expecting Danny to be the ultimate brat but here we are. Our loveable mullet wearing Winger just needed someone to show him he's loved and appreciated for who he is not who is 'supposed' to be. Charlie did a beautiful job in showing internalized homophobia and how it affects a person on coming to terms with his truth.
Ezra is the right man for the job yes he's a little broken from his divorce but that's okay. He needs someone like Danny to show what is to have fun and to see boundaries showing his care. Together with the help of their found family they find a way to show what it's like to other to have a healthy relationship. A great addition to the series glad to see how different Danny is from what I previously thought.
SNik's review:
Fourth in series (Lincoln Knights), but can be read as a standalone. Age gap. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV.
Professional rugby player Danny is more than curious about being with a man, he’s pretty sure he is gay, and has his sights set on the team’s social media manager to help him sort it out. Ezra knows he’s too old and broken for sunshiney Danny, but he’s willing to help him explore what he wants and doesn't expect the slow building feelings to turn into love.
When Ezra gives Danny the nickname ‘puppy” that really describes everything about Danny’s personality and the dynamic between them. Danny is so sweet and eager to please, but Ezra is also generous and caring, so these two men falling for each other was such a fun read. Along with the trademark Charlie Novak spice, this story has loyal and supportive friends as secondary characters, and main characters that make everything better for each other by being present and sharing honest communication. A really enjoyable addition to this sweet series.
Heather's Review:
The winger was so much fun to read... Danny's puppy energy just spilled into every interaction and watching Ezra's reactions... that doesn't mean that this book doesn't broach serious soul searching, including Danny's internalized homophobia and Ezra's healing journey from his divorce.
This book brings together everything that you've come to expect from a Charlie Novak novel - spice, heart and supportive friends.
