From the blurb:

Pretend to be someone’s boyfriend while hiding out with his family? This is too easy.

I’ve made some mistakes in life, but being an accountant for criminals has to be the biggest. I knew something was up for a while, but when the rumors reached me that I might be the one skimming money, I knew I had to get out of town and fast. Those guys aren’t exactly known for having reasonable conversations.

I bought the first ticket leaving the city, only to end up with a delayed flight, but a very adorable fellow passenger to wile away the night. Turns out he’s going to the same place I am, and he needs help with the family business’s finances. My expertise. Convincing him to let me be his pretend boyfriend and help with his troubles is easier than it should be, but it’s exactly what I need.

All I have to do now is blend in, hide out, and stay under the radar, all while enjoying his accepting family, interesting work, and the sizzling connection between us. As long as they don’t find out what I really am, I might be able to make a new life here. Now wouldn’t that be something?

The Pretender is Book 1 in the In Love With A Criminal series. In it, you can expect a man running from the bad guys, and a clueless, way too trusting man just trying to keep his family together. You’ll also find an only one bed, fake dating, forced proximity romp with a warm slightly meddling family, wholesome midwest vibes (or are they) and two men finding love in spite of the obstacles between them. It is sometimes light, sometimes serious, but always steamy good fun.

Molly Otto's review:

It is always a pleasure to see when Mia go back into contemporary, as that is how I first found them as author. I will always love their paranormal just nice to see them go back and forth between the genres. Deo & Balt meet while stranded at an airport and decide why not bunk together. When the chemistry is undeniable Balt agrees to go home to help Deo navigate his family and their business. These two just balance each other in a beautiful way, that even with Balt holding secrets you understand the need and hesitation in coming clean and possibly leave this new life they've been building together. Now let's talk about Deo's beautifully unique family, they all were made to embrace and encourage the chaos and allow everything to play as it needs to without people being hurt in the process.

Thera's review:

I loved this book. Deo and Balt had chemistry from the very first page. I couldn't stop turning pages to see what would happen next. I needed it. I really loved the little bit of kink that was in it as well. And I loved the grandma. She was everything!!

Heather's Review:

I don't read mafia romance, and I don't read darker stories, but I always read what Mia Monroe writes... because she always brings a unique twist to what could be a dark romance... and this time it's a sweet, warm and meddling midwestern family who just breathe a fresh, new take on the fake relationship, hide in plain sight story line...

Balt and Deo are steamy good and their chemistry is palpable... you also get to see these two working in sync to unravel the problems with the family business and deal with all Deo's crazy relatives.  As much as I love Balt and Deo it's Deo's grandmother who steals the story and makes this book so worth reading!  If you can handle just a smidge of murder and mayhem I recommend adding this book to your TBR.

I can't wait to see where this storyline goes next!
