From the blurb:
One kiss to derail a life.
Marek Myers is an up-and-coming goalie, but he's also not out. At least, he wasn’t. Because one kiss with the wrong man slams Marek out of the closet and into the spotlight.
Determined to make the best of a bad situation, Marek goes on the offensive, charming the media one interview at a time, happy to be the poster boy the media is after. Only, not everyone is pleased with the attention Marek is receiving, and he finds himself traded to a different team.
Separated from his home and his sister, Marek vows to handle the shots thrown at him. He throws himself into being the best goalie he can for his new team, but no matter what he does, he can't earn the friendship of the hot and broody defenseman, Jay Brookbank.
One text message to turn it all upside down.
Marek might be out and proud, but Jay is not, and after seeing the fallout from Marek's grand reveal, he doesn't want to be. Unfortunately, he still has needs and unfortunately, the faceless torso on the other end of the hookup app turns out to be none other than Marek Myers.
One hookup to change everything.
All Marek wants is someone to accept him for who he is, and Jay needs someone who can put up with his bullshit. The two of them are perfect for each other, but there's one big problem—Jay doesn’t like Marek. Maddeningly, he can’t stop thinking about him.
He doesn’t want to see Marek again, but he can't stay away.
He’s absolutely not falling for Marek, and he’s definitely not willing to risk it all for him.
Right?
RIGHT?!

Angel's review:
Jay and Marek's story is an explosive one, they have an enemies to lovers vibe going on between them mainly due to Jay not actually getting to know Marek as a person...
Once his best friend Boone finally convinced him to give their new goalie a chance does he realize that Marek isn't so bad after all... And he actually might like the other man.
Marek got outed in the press, traded, harassed by paparazzi and hated by one of his teammates as soon as he arrives in town. He's struggling with everything changing, people not liking him, his brain not allowing him to do tasks he knows he should do, and just generally having a hard time... But when his anonymous match for a night of fun ends up being the person who hates him, things turn around for him.
Marek is an absolute sweetheart, Jay's description of him is pretty spot on, he does have a golden retriever vibe. He just wants to make people happy and wants to succeed. Whereas Jay is the complete opposite of Marek, while Marek is sunshine, Jay is a storm cloud. Not to say Jay is bad, just definitely more grumpy and hostile than Marek. But somehow these two balance the other out, they work well together once they could finally get out of their own way.
While I did enjoy reading this book I wish there were more couple-y esque moments that occured throughout the story, and less steamy scenes. We never really got to see them go on a date, or see Jay meet Marek's sister... Those are the moments/scenes I love in romance books, and they weren't here. That being said I did still enjoy the story, I'm excited to see Marek and Jay's teammates hopefully get paired up themselves. Boone and Andrew are the two side characters who piqued my interest the most, I hope they'll each get their own story eventually.
Heather's Review:
Who doesn't love a sports romance featuring the out and proud guy and the closeted man who swipes right on a road trip... I love everything EM Denning writes and that now includes sports romance! More please!
Marek and Jay were absolutely adorable and the story was both low angst but with the right amount of tension and a whole heap of smexy stuff! I also like how their off ice communication helps their on ice performance!
Can't wait to read the rest of this shared world!
