From the blurb:
Finn
I wasn’t even supposed to be going to the reunion. Chloe needed help packing up her mom’s house, and I offered to go back to Gomillion with her, as any best friend would. That doesn't mean I want to reunite with people I haven't seen in over twenty years. I'm even less interested in socializing at the town bar, especially with the former captain of the football team, who I shared a kiss with at the end of senior year. There’s no way he’ll recognize me, and even if he does, I don’t know what he’d think of how much I’ve changed. I’m finally the man I’ve always known I was, but that’s not how Brad Willson used to know me.
Brad
Everything is finally coming together. I got the promotion I’ve been working towards for years, and I’m back in town to celebrate with all my high school buddies…except it’s been tough to keep up with everyone. My job runs me ragged, traveling from one end of the country to the other recruiting for college football. My hope is to one day become a coach, but part of me has started to wonder if all these lonely nights are worth it—and the gorgeous guy I ran into at the bar isn’t helping the matter. When it turns out he’s more than just a random guy, what does that mean for my new job and for me?

Molly Otto's review:
Having read DC previous backlog, can without a doubt say that they truly came into their own as a a writer in the story of Brad & Finn. Brad & Finn were not in the right place or head space in their lives to be ready for the all-encompassing relationship that would be their story during high school. Twenty years later, at the high school reunion, the two lives once again cross paths, along with Chloe, the platonic best friend/soul mate of Finn & for that matter Brad. These three dynamics are a thing of beauty where each one needs the other to be their best self, along with Christian, who we meet at the end. DC shows us what a QPR (queer platonic relationship) is and how amazing of a thing it can be when all the pieces fall into place.
Brad still struggles with doing what is best for himself and a misfortunately timed conversation shows it's time for him to truly stand up for himself once and for all. Finn & Chloe show that forgiveness is a good thing when the right person deserves it. Especially when the circumstances show that it wasn't all on just one person's fault but many. I hope to see DC keep up with this style of writing, it has been a pleasure to see their writing style strengthen and gives me hope for future works from them.

Everything of DC's I've read so far I've thoroughly enjoyed, their characters always feel so real and they have a lot of depth to them. Brad, Finn, Chloe, and Christian are no exception, they are a fantastic group of characters and I absolutely loved going on this journey with them.
Brad is a thoughtful and kind person, he's always trying to do things for others without thinking much about what he wants. When he starts reconnecting with his closest friends from his High School days, he starts realizing that he hasn't fought for anything for himself, only for others, until now. Not until he reconnected with Finn.
Finn and Brad are so sweet together, they have their bumps here and there but they prioritize communication which I LOVED. Both of these men floundered a bit in the beginning, but gradually they learned each others quirks and how to best navigate difficult situations and topics. I really appreciate how DC made this a lighthearted Queer story while also making sure it's still realistic and a bit gritty. Several of the Queer characters within this story have struggled with other people's vicious remarks and cruel judgement, but the story itself made me so happy to read it.
I also really enjoyed the banter and dialogue that occured between all of these characters, I was smiling the whole time while reading this book. Well, almost the whole time, when Brad spiraled, and also had a tough conversation with his mom, that made me tear up a bit.
Something I also want to highlight is how DC wrote about QPR's, (Queer Platonic Relationship), you don't often see those being written about and I love that they did. Even though Brad was unfamiliar with both the term, and the concept, he openly accepted both and ended up finding himself within a QPR of his own with Chloe and Christian. I loved the ending! These characters create such a beautiful unit, and while others might think their relationship is unconventional, I think it's quite beautiful.
