Daring Omega’s Protective Dragon (Alpha Series: Of Blood & Treasure, Book 1) by Odessa Hywell & Jax Stuart

Edain and Baldemar struggle to fight their mutual attraction but what began as care becomes closeness. A look becomes a touch. A touch becomes a kiss. And then—Giving in could ruin everything—all Edain's hard work, what's left of Baldemar's dwindling horde—but what if the love they're not supposed to want is the only thing that can save them all?

From the blurb:

To help. To heal. To prove himself.

Edain has always been the brightest spark in his father's horde—powerful, treasured, and far too protected. His father says it's to keep him safe. Edain suspects it's to keep him from finding his own path. When he learns that his beloved uncle's magic-starved horde is on the verge of collapse, Edain knows he has help.

The wards are failing. And every day, more dragons leave.

Baldemar hoped but never actually believed his brother would send his omega son to restore magic to the land. He remembers a small wilful child with big, bright eyes, wild curls and too many questions. The man who arrives is still wilful, still bright, but now he possesses the kind of powerful magic Baldemar's horde desperately needs if they're going to survive.

There is no pretending it doesn't mean something.

Edain pushes himself to fix the horde's broken wards, while Baldemar watches over him. They struggle to fight their mutual attraction but what began as care soon becomes closeness.

A look becomes a touch. A touch becomes a kiss. And then—

Giving in could ruin everything—all Edain's hard work, what's left of Baldemar's dwindling horde—but what if the love they're not supposed to want is the only thing that can save them all?

DufetteReads review:

I love both Odessa and Jax's writing and they meshed well as co-authors. This was a fluffy omegaverse read. I enjoyed the taboo aspect (uncle + nephew) as well as the dragon lore that was built in the background. It's been years since the two saw each other, and immediately, they were drawn together. They both thought it was because of their familial bond, but it was actually something more.

The thing I love about taboo stories is seeing how they cope with deciding on that their relationship is important enough to defy norms. There's a good amount of smutty sexy times included in with why these two came together in the first place -- repair the wards to protect the horde.

I love forward to reading more in this series as these authors come together to bring their own styles of writing together.
