Xarius (Shunned Mages Book 1) by Regitse Liljadorff

A cute introduction to a world where shunned mages search for their soulmates in order to acquire missing magic.

From the Xarius blurb:

Niam:

Being shunned from my home world because I lack magic is one thing. Surviving in a foreign world that has never had any magic is something else. When I start feeling eyes on me, I need to add a stalker to my list of problems to deal with. I just hope I survive it.

Xarius:

Being the first shunned mage and the son of one of the leaders in the Council of Mages has its perks. I know the council only shunned us to Sutiner because they feared us, because as soon as I find my soulmatch, I’ll be more powerful than them. We will be more powerful. Now I just have to chase my soulmatch down and hope that he, too, wants revenge. And if I end up kidnapping him to make him hear me out, then so be it. Whatever it takes, I’ll make that man mine.

Xarius is the first book in the Shunned Trilogy that follows mages born without magic. Join their journey as they discover power, love, and family. The trilogy is filled with hurt/comfort and found family vibes. Expect mages, magic, and familiars. Each book features a different couple, but with a continuing plot. Must be read in order.

SNik's review:

First in series (Shunned Mages). Paranormal. YA. Soulmates. Slow burn. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Niam has been shunned from his world for not having magic and just as he starts to acclimate he meets another shunned mage. Xarius knew he had to search out his shunned soulmatch, and as soon as Niam appears Xarius embarks on the adventure of finding him and also others that will also come into their magic once soulmatched.

This is a pretty simple and straight forward story, once Niam and Xarius are together they want to bond and discover how strong their magic is. It was nice that both Xarius and Niam found people that were kind and generous when they first came to the world where they were sent. A low angst story with a bit of violence and a lot of sweetness.
