This dystopian omegaverse world will make you hold your breath and hope for the best for these characters.
From the blurb:
May the Goddess have mercy on anyone who tries to take our mate from us...
My twin brother Reeve and I have called Western State Penitentiary our home for the last ten years, and that’s not changing any time soon. We’ve made our peace with that and have grown used to our lives in the only prison in the country that can hold alpha predator shifters like ourselves.
These collars might keep us from shifting and using our alpha abilities, but even the ones in charge know they must do something to help curb our predatory instincts, or they’d have a major problem. So, they hold quarterly hunts. The prison is locked down, our collars are turned off, and some unfortunate omega prey shifter is dropped in our midst. The poor thing never stands a chance.
Reeve and I are tired of these games and have no intention of playing. But then the scent of the newest prey hits us, and we immediately know he’s our mate.
Nothing will stop us from protecting our sweet little rabbit. It doesn’t matter who comes for him and what they try to do. Brynn is ours to care for, ours to protect, and anyone who tries to get in the way, all we have to say is, “Bring it.”
Ensnaring Their Rabbit is a standalone story part of the Heat, Prey, Love series. Each book features a predator and prey shifter finding their true love. Ensnaring Their Rabbit is an MMM omegaverse romance, and features twin wolf alphas and their omega rabbit mate. This prison-based romance will include overly protective alphas, primal play, scenting, nesting, knotting, and chase scenes. MPreg exists in this world.
Angel's review:
Two alphas who are also identical twins have been locked away in a high security prison for most of their lives. The prison is a cruel, sick place where the guards and the warden hosts hunts for all the shifters in the prison. They bring in an omega, turn off the collars that keep the shifters unable to access their animal form, and let them all out to battle and do whatever they please. The twins don't usually participate in the Hunt as it bothers them to do so, but when they catch the scent of the new Omega that got brought in as the bait, they know that they have to act immediately.
I haven't read very many books by Jacey Davis, but when I read the blurb for this one I knew I really wanted to read it. The aspect of the prison in this world was unique in the sense that they had the hunts for the shifters that were being held there. While the idea of it realistically is horrific, using someone as bait and then to be trafficked is messed up, but as a unique plotline...I found it to be quite good. And interesting.
The bond Reeve and Riven share is absolutely precious, they are each other's whole world, and when they finally get to Brynn they all make each other feel even more complete. Jacey noted this in the beginning of the story but for those wondering this book doesn't feature any spicy scenes between the twins. They both engage in spicy scenes with Brynn at the same time, but they don't engage in those spicy times with each other.
Brynn is honestly adorable, he's had to live on his own trying to do whatever he can to survive being on the streets. Even though he's put into a horrible position, he's still stubborn and determined to fight his way out in anyway he can. I really liked his spirit and tenacity.
I thought the writing was good, the characters each had their own personalities, and the story had a good flow/pacing to it. I am really curious to see if there'll be any bonus stories to this later on because of us not seeing some things get resolved. For instance, do the twins ever get to talk to their Uncle? And will they finally be able to speak to their sister who betrayed them? I hope there's some extra short stories revolving around these characters in the future.
I will point out that while this does take place in an omegaverse world, there is no mpreg that happens throughout the story. So if you were wondering about that, there you go. :)
