Claimed By The Orc Emperor (Orc Mate Selection Book 1) by RS McKenzie

A different writing style from a very talented author!

From the Claimed by the Orc Emperor blurb:

As a monster smut romance author, my life is writing about creatures that only exist in my imagination ravaging humans and making them fall in love with them. It's a fantasy of mine to be ravaged by a monster, but they're not real. My collection of...erm, toys is as close as I'll get to being with a real live monster.

That is, until I cross a barrier I had no idea exited and landed in a world that shouldn't be. There, I meet the most handsome orc I've ever laid eyes on.

Orcs exist! And one of them wants to claim me as his.

Claimed by the Orc Emperor is book one in a multi-author series, Orc Mate Selection. While it can be read as a standalone, this series has an overarching plot, so they are best read in order.

Angel's review:

When I read a book by RS McKenzie I expect it to be a dark romance with angst. However, in this book she very clearly states that is not what this book is, and she's right. It is a very fluffy book full of sweetness and loads of spice.

Even though it wasn't what RS typically writes I really enjoyed Axumm and Rainn's story. I also thought Rainn being a romance author who writes about spicy monster relationships, ending up with the very creature he writes about was quite unique and interesting! I liked how it was almost full circle for Rainn. As mentioned above, Axumm and Rainn's story is full of sweetness. Even though Axumm didn't believe in fated mates, as soon as he met Rainn he couldn't deny or resist their bond. I also loved how he explained how his world works and what being fated mates mean to his people, so calmly and patiently to Rainn.

Their relationship has some insta-love vibes, and definitely has insta-lust. Even though they both are interested in each other from the moment they meet, they take their time getting to know each other personally, and I really liked that. Overall a well written and very cute short story!
