Clay is only in town to sell the building he inherited, but the more time he spends with the flower shop owner, the more he sees what might be possible if he stays. Nicholas doesn't do casual, but something about Clay makes him decide that a short term arrangement will be alright, as long as he doesn't lose his heart.
From the The Flower Shop Arrangement blurb:
An opposites-attract M/M romance, full of heart and heat, and set in a little flower shop with enough charm to overcome any scowl.
When I inherit a building from a grandpa I've never met, there's only one plan: take the money and run.
Enter Nicholas, the florist with the little shop downstairs. I'm an awkward loner of a carpenter, a straight guy who is totally out of place in this unfamiliar city's gay district. I don't know what to do with Nicholas's easy smile or his hopelessly romantic worldview, so I just ignore how it makes me feel when he says my name.
But as I start on some quick and needed renovations, friendly and talkative Nicholas keeps catching my attention, and my eye wanders where I've trained it not to go. The future of his business lies in my hands and what I do with this old, falling-down building. I can't afford to think about him this way, but we make each other smile, and desires I've buried for years rise back to the surface with every loaded silence and moment caught alone together.
Nicholas doesn't let me grunt and trudge away. He surprises me one night with a proposal. Turns out, Nicholas with the sweet little flower shop has some desires of his own, and we might be the perfect match. With love and romance off the table, we can focus all our attention on the bedroom until I sell the building and leave town, and no one needs to know about it.
No commitment is perfect for me. I've spent my entire life building walls.
But the second I get my hands on Nicholas, they all start tumbling down.
SNik's review:
Standalone. Opposites attract. Grumpy/sunshine. Found family. Dual POV.
Arriving in the city of Buffalo after inheriting a building from his estranged grandfather Randy, Clay has only one plan: sell and start his own construction crew back in Missouri. Nicholas should be worried that Clay might sell the building where his florist business is located, but he is an eternal optimist and hopefully Clay will respect his grandfather’s wishes. Opposites in many ways, grumpy/sunshine, introvert/extrovert, talkative/quiet, both men are attracted and agree to a secret and very casual arrangement to hook up in the small amount of time Clay will be in town.
Clay and Nicholas spend their time together slowly experiencing their spicy interactions as well as coming to respect and like each other. But Clay fears he can’t be everything romantic that Nicholas yearns for, never having been in a relationship before and being alone most of his life, even the kindness of the found family in the gayborhood is hard to accept. A really sweet story of how opposites can work, how two men appreciate and respect the other's different personality, and how love can sneak up on you no matter how hard you try to deny it.
Denise's review:
This is truly a sweet story that Exemplify The grumpy and sweet troop. We have our flower shop owner that always Dreamed of owning a flower shop. But there is a slight twist With the got. They work together to try and figure out how To keep his business. You really get to know the characters. This is a dual point Of you story. This is a must read.
Heather's Review:
Opposites attract and tensions simmer as Clay discovers more about himself as we inherits a dilapidated building and discovers his grandfather's eccentric life and how it interweaves into the fabric of Buffalo, NY's gayborhood.
This is a classic hook-up to more story with steamy heat, sweet characters and just a hint of mild angst in the third act break up spot that we know is inevitable when characters need to change their entire outlook and future path...
