Father Figure (Sinful Summers Duet Book 1) by Raquel Riley

Get ready for a high heat age gap romance. Father Figure is a book for those with an open mind to relationship dynamics.

From the blurb:

Father Figure

Scorching summer nights and tropical beaches, steel drums and a luxurious mini yacht… it’s the perfect setting for an indecent proposal… to claim his ex’s son’s first time.

Nicholas

It was only supposed to be one night… and I meant it when I made the deal with my dad’s ex-boyfriend. If I went to college, he would let me tag along Caribbean island hopping on his charter boat for the summer. Cass stuck to his end of the bargain, but not me—I asked for extra terms. One night: me, him and nothing between us, showing me what it felt like to be loved by a man.

Cassidy

One night, my ass. If I’d known what I was in for before I’d made the deal… I still would’ve done it. Except now I couldn’t stop thinking about him, desiring him, needing him—in my arms, beneath me, by my side. I was a fool for thinking we had a future together, but when I thought about spending the rest of my life with someone, Nicky’s face was the only one I could imagine.

Father Figure is an MM taboo tropical romance with MM+ play with no cheating. Features an age gap, a loving Daddy, and a sweet needy boy. Set sail aboard the Harlowe Two for a wild scorching summer adventure.

Reed Kaye's review:

I started reading this story with an assumption it would be something it really isn’t. It is advertised as taboo but as I was reading it I didn’t get that feeling.

Cass is Nicky’s dad’s ex. He has been involved with Nicky while growing up. When Nicky wants to spend his summer working for Cass and Sam on their charter boats they agree to let him.

All the characters in this story are lovable. Nicky has always had a close relationship with Cass and now that he is on his way to college he finds that relationship has turned into more.

Cass has trouble with his attraction to Nicky. He has always felt protective over him. He has been around to spoil him and spend time with him. As Cass realizes Nicky is now not a kid anymore he has to face the fact of this attraction between them. With Sam’s, his business partner plus, help he accepts the situation.

I feel this is an age gap romance. I’m hoping a little more of where these guys are maybe after Nicky’s college is in the second book as I wanted more.

Zakiyya's review:

Cass makes it clear early on that his business partner, Sam is very much a part of his life as a lover so when Nicky starts feeling jealousy towards Sam early on, Cass explains their relationship and Nicky understands and accepts that Sam and Cass are a ‘package deal’ – even though they are not in love with each other. However, Sam and Cass are not exclusive - they have sex together, they share partners and they even have sex with others without each other.

I know that some people are uncomfortable with this kind of dynamic and I feel it’s important readers know this – even though those encounters with others are not on page. Cass and Nicky do form a relationship together and engage in alot of 'play time' with Sam.

Didn’t find the story convincing enough to build a solid relationship between Nicky and Cass but I did find the steamy scenes really hot... 🔥🔥

Molly Otto's review:

Well, when Raquel said she was taking a breather from her Scars & Stripes series for something completely different, she wasn't kidding. Let's just say that if you're looking for a straightforward relationship, this is not the book for you. This is a high heat story with an age gap and a daddy boy relationship that allows all parties to have all their needs met. Nicky & Cass are perfect for each other with what needs they want met, and they also happen to have a special place for Sam. What I adore about this book, Nicky doesn't hold Cass & Sam's relationship against them. He embraces it. He makes it work where yes, Cass is the love of his life, yet he has a place for Sam to be a major part as well. I am looking forward to Sam's story next and to see how his partner plays into these dynamics.

Heather's Review:

There's a lot of steam once Cass and Nicky inevitably get together... but there's also some heat between Sam and Cass in their FWB relationship.  I like how matter of fact Cass and Sam are about explaining their sharing relationships and how Nicky embraces everything about Cass - including his FWB with Sam...

I'm looking forward to seeing how that FWB evolves and how Cass and Nicky's relationship evolves once Sam finds his love match in the second book...

This was a great start to a steamy summer and I can't wait to see what happens next!
