Maximus, Lords of Otherworld #1 by Stella Rainbow

Maximus find his Mate, his one true love. There is only one problem. Okay maybe many problems, but the biggest one is Kym doesn’t believe in Soulmates. He thinks Insta-love is quite literally “Bullshit”. Lucky enough Maximus has an inside view on how it all works and knows there souls fit together perfectly. He just needs to convince Kym of that.

Stella Rainbow's Maximus, Lords of Otherworld #1 is a Return to Otherworld with cameos from all those characters from the previous series.

From the blurb:

A workaholic soul collector. A human with hidden powers. An evil growing stronger everyday.

Maximus
The first time I went looking for Kym, it was because he was a relative of a murder victim I was investigating. Every time after that? It was because I realized he was my mate.
For the first time in my long existence, I'd found something more important than my work. But with evil brewing in the shadows, my realm and my king needed me more than ever.
Could I really make a choice between my family and my mate?

Kym
I knew my uncle's death was a murder, but no one believed me except my best friend. That is, until I met Maximus.
After spotting the huge, intimidating man lurking around my shop, I'd had no option but to face him. He didn't scare me, but what he told me turned my life upside down.
Could I really make a choice between the only home I'd ever known, and the man who promised me the world?

Maximus, the first book in the Lords of Otherworld series, features a workaholic soul collector, a wary tattoo artist who is intimated by him and yet can't seem to stay away, and a romance that spans across realms.

Each book in the Lords of Otherworld series features a different couple with an overarching plotline. It is recommended to read the books in order for the most enjoyment.

Jacquie's Review:

Maximus is the first in the Lords of Otherworld series, a spin-off from the Fate's Gambit series. I'd recommend reading them first for an introduction to Otherworld but it isn't necessary. Mistvale characters also feature. Slightly heavier in tone than Mistvale or Fate's Gamble but still full of the signature Stella sweetness. There's Maximus working to uncover the reason of Kym's uncle's death and the kidnap of supernatural kids. Kym has to make some difficult choices too but they get a HFN. Decent amount of steam that we don't have to wait too long for. Told in dual pov by likable characters. It was great to get to know Maximus a little better, and Kym is a great addition to the Otherworld family.

Lindz' Review:

Maximus is a fun twist of fated mates and a must read. Stella Rainbow gives two main characters so much back story and depth its truly mesmerizing. The magic between Max and his little Fox is just the right amount of hot and steamy for this book series. There are a few sad moments, but the good out ways them in the end.

I always love the complexity of Stella’s writing. Her ability to create entire new worlds or worlds we know of, but find are different amazes me. It’s not something just any author can do so well. You could tell these two men truly grow together in the best of way. There love sorry has true connection and ground to stand on even if at first it seams like silly Insta-love. It is not and the HEA they found is something they have to work hard for.  I LOVED seeing favorites from Stella’s other series connected to this one like Damien, Reese, Artemus and Killian from just to name a few of mine.

Though not needed, I strongly suggest you read Fate's Gambit, a three part book series that comes before Maximus. It gives us the reader more insight to who the other characters in the book are and what Otherworld is.
