Held in His Command (Intricate Ties Book 2) by A. E. LeMercier; Narrated by Tyler Laux

Deeply emotional story and great narration!

From the blurb:

An emotional MM romance of protective love, quiet strength, and the healing power of trust.

Darren Quinn, a seasoned professional and manager of an elite haven for the overburdened, finds his boundaries crumbling when newly divorced Miles Bennet walks through his door.

Miles isn’t just another client; he’s a man drowning in guilt, seeking healing in surrender. But as Darren provides the steady hand and protective care Miles needs, their connection deepens into something neither expected. When Miles’s vulnerability collides with Darren’s overwhelming desire, lines blur—until a single kiss shatters every professional rule.

Now, Darren must decide if his career is worth more than the man who has finally made his house feel like a home. Can he set aside his professional mask for a truth he can no longer deny: that Miles isn't just seeking his command, he’s seeking a place to finally belong? A steamy, MM hurt comfort romance about healing, trust, and the courage to let go—both in the sanctuary and in love. HEA/HFN.

The quiet, earnest vulnerability of Heated Rivalry meets the profound healing and protective authority of a Nora Phoenix hero in this deeply emotional, high-heat romance where a man must break every rule and yield to his deepest desires just to heal the man he can’t live without.

Heat level: 5

Lesetiger's review:

After being captivated by the first book in the “Intricate Ties” series, I was really looking forward to the second one. The author’s writing style was wonderful once again, and the story quickly drew me in.

Since the second book also revolves around Darren and Miles, I recommend reading the first book first to get more background. It’s not absolutely necessary, though, because the beginning of this book recounts the events from the first book—but this time from Darren’s perspective.

I loved reading it from Darren’s point of view and diving into his inner world.

The sessions with Miles were supposed to be purely professional, but Darren has a past of his own, and it’s not at all easy for him to keep his emotions in check during the sessions with Miles—because Miles really gets under his skin.

Both feel comfortable during the sessions and grow closer emotionally. Miles is slowly growing into the role of the sub. And Darren is waging an internal battle with himself, but I could really relate to his inner conflict. I’d love to have more insight into Miles’ past, but I’m confident I’ll learn more about that as the series progresses.

I was impressed by Miles’s development and also by the absolute trust he places in Darren during their sessions.

As I mentioned earlier, I found the characters, their development, and the dynamic between them very captivating, and I’m dying to know what happens next—which is why I’m already looking forward to the next volume!

Tyler Laux’s narration of this story—which is as erotic as it is emotional—was absolutely fantastic. He has a talent for perfectly capturing the right emotions. As a listener, you immediately sense the protagonists’ emotional states. I also found his deep, rich “dom” voice for Darren phenomenal. It was an absolute pleasure to listen to him—very well done! I listened to the audiobook in one sitting.
