A Puck Between Friends (Gods Versus Monsters Hockey Book 3) by J.R. Gray

These two MC's are so oblivious to their own feelings, they'll have you wanting to reach through the book to give them a shake!

From the blurb:

When my best friend offers to come as my date to my sister’s wedding to get back at my sister for breaking his heart, I agree thinking it will be hilarious. What I didn’t consider was that I’ve been in love with him half my life, and all the consequences of us fake dating.

My family demands I bring my new boyfriend to her shower first, and things only go downhill from there. My sister is marrying the goalie from our rival team who immediately is up in arms about us dating.

Fair, but I don’t have time to dwell on it as things quickly get weird with my best friend. Wolfe is straight, it shouldn’t be weird right? It’s fake after all. But I’m so wrong. He kisses me like I’ve never been kissed before, and then we both realize we have to keep this up for months until the wedding.

Between the unexpected sexual tension, hockey, and the secrets we are keeping. I don’t know how we’re going to get through the season.

Tropes:
College Hockey
Fake dating
Childhood best friends
Bi-awakening
Idiots to lovers
Goalie

Angel's review:

You know how there's a trope called 'Idiots to lovers?' that definitely depicts Angel and Wolfe's relationship. They are childhood best friends and have been in each other's lives ever since they met. Wolfe was dating Angel's sister but when Wolfe catches her cheating... That's when everything changes.

These two had a lot of obstacles in their way on their path to being together. From Angel's awful sister, to Wolfe's terrible parents, and Wolfe trying to figure out his new found attraction to his best friend, they had a lot to work through. Eventually though with time, they got there in the end, and I thought the ending was great! I felt a bit bad for Mark though, but I'm glad he got away from Angel's sister when he could! She's terrible.

I thought this story was good, I liked that hockey played a pretty big role, I enjoyed the aspect of the whole friends to lovers/idiots to lovers component. I would've liked less steamy scenes and more moments of the two of them going on dates or something, but that's just a personal preference. Overall I thought this book was great!
