A new series from a new-to-me author that written in a unique way.
From the blurb:
FROM EXCITING AUTHOR OF OMEGAVERSE ROMANCE ELAINE WHITE
Book one in the Omega Rescue Taskforce series
The world isn't ready for an omega like Lucky Darro.
LUCKY DARRO is many things an omega shouldn't be: feisty, independent, a freedom fighter. He believes in the old ways, holding firm to traditions long thought barbaric and ridiculous. Just as he's starting to get to know college heartthrob Chase Walker, Lucky finds himself in a tricky situation. Captured by a gang of traders within the illegal Omega Market, he has to make a snap decision: save himself or protect an underage girl and her badly-beaten brother. For Lucky, it's not even a choice…
CHASE WALKER comes from the most prominent Alpha family of the province. He should have known it wasn't his fate to get a docile, obedient mate. But when he discovers that his mate is the freedom fighter Lucky Darro, and that he might have to compete with another alpha for his affection, Chase has to step up and reevaluate everything he ever knew about true mates.
FORD KING survived a childhood with a drug-addicted mother, and spent his formative years on the streets fighting for money, freedom and a place to belong. Protecting Omegas and his recruitment into the Omega Rescue Taskforce was always his fate. But when Lucky comes into his life, it's clear that nothing will ever be the same again.
TOGETHER they must battle the Omega Market, the prejudices of a world not used to a three-way bond, and the growing chemistry that sparks between them. The only question isn't whether they can survive the flames, but how hot the fire will burn.
Angel's review:
I'm determined to read more new-to-me authors this year, and Elaine White definitely fits that criteria!
I absolutely love reading paranormal romance books and I thought this one was quite good! I'll be honest, Elaine's writing style is one I'm not familiar with, so that alone was unique and made the story itself more interesting. The way this was written was like I was reading someone's diary depicting what was going on and the events that occured, it was really unique and I've never read something like this before. It took me a little while to get into this due to the writing style, but once I got used to it I ended up enjoying what I read!
The world building was fantastic! Elaine took a concept that's been written about before, Alpha/Betas/Omegas, and made it completely their own. I really liked all of these characters, they were full of life! I loved how Lucky, Chase, and Ford all put in the effort to make their relationship work. They broke the 'societal norms' and forged their own bonds and made their own rules which ai loved seeing! Them adopting Pip was one of my favorite parts in this whole book, Pip is just so precious and wants to be loved, and Lucky, Chase, and Ford have plenty of love to give.
All in all, a good start to a new series, I'm looking forward to seeing where else this goes.
Lucky is currently available as an e-book and paperback
